Hopefully when Eddie met the PIF officials he told them that he doesn’t want any PIF teams giving them money for their cast-offs

Definitely preferable - all depends what the situation with Isak really is.

And we all know how well that went..

Just want us to shop somewhere otherwise we’ll starve!

So we are trying to replace a player who would rather play for Liverpool with a player who would rather play for Man United (who are allegedly interested in him). What could possibly go wrong with such a cunning plan!

I admire your optimism!

Yes I agree that Isak staying is the only really palatable scenario at this point in time.

Hate to be a doom mongerer but this deal has so many red flags. If we buy Sesko first I cannot see how we can possibly keep Isak, particularly as we have other positions to fill as well, and stay within the PSR limits for 23/24 - 25/26. if we do exceed the PSR limits then we are going to be forced to sell under pressure before the deadline again. if we do plan to sell Isak then Liverpool will reasonably assume we need to sell and can lowball us again, perhaps offering even less than before. If we sell Isak first This would be a massive risk even if we had some sort of agreement that the deal would go through. There is no way we could trust either Leipzig or Sesko or Manchester United. I just hope we are just going through the motions to show we tried or can somehow put some contractual things in place to protect ourselves. But neither Liverpool or Manchester United will be in any hurry as in both cases the player’s preference seems to be them. They also know that delaying causes us a massive headache.

If we can’t afford to sign Sesko and keep Isak from a PSR perspective then we are in a really tricky position. We can’t afford the risk of selling Isak before we have a replacement in. But if we sign Sesko and need to sell Isak then we are open (as Downie says) to Liverpool possibly even lowering their offer. Catch 22 unless we can afford to keep both.

I think our best hope is that Leipzig give ManU a deadline

Seems to be that Sesko prefers Man United over us so you can see it is very much in his interests to wait and see if they match our offer. From a Man U perspective therefore they know they do not need to rush. This leaves us stuck as we don’t know if we can get him or not and it also means we (hopefully) will refuse to sell Isak to Liverpool. It is very much in Man U interests (whether they want him or not) to do nothing until they have to.

Liverpool have deliberately stated how emphatic our response was. Reads to me that they are telling his agent that it is up to you now to get Newcastle to lower their price otherwise we can’t afford him. I guess we will find out soon enough. We simply cannot trust a word Liverpool and their mouthpieces are saying.
