1964
Moncur said this was "Imminent" the other night, fwiw. Take that as you will. Fed up with people who know nothing, saying something. Rinse and repeat news stories
Altamullan
I still believe it will happen pretty quickly. Choosing to spend some time today day-dreaming over who will be our instant January ‘marquee’/Robinho signing .. http://www.espn.co.uk/football/club/manchester-city/382/blog/post/2500818/the-signing-of-robinho-changed-manchester-city-forever

Dave
Moncur said this was "Imminent" the other night, fwiw. Take that as you will. He's still a member of the board, isn't he? Guess it means fuck all, though. I thought not but just checked and he's still a director aye. As you say, doubt it means anything though. The club's exact ownership is a bit of a mystery in terms of all the different holding companies etc.

They don't tell him anything anymore. Not sure what he even does at the club apart from the odd tour.

mrmojorisin75
No idea obviously but my guess will be this now hinging on Ashley agreeing to something related to relegation, which he should the absolute cunt.
steve_69
No idea obviously but my guess will be this now hinging on Ashley agreeing to something related to relegation, which he should the absolute c***. He really should. He said himself that he wasn't giving Rafa enough money in that awful Sky interview so he fucking knows he's responsible for this predicament. Fucking Jabba the Cunt! ianovthetoon
It’s funny how he’s came full circle though. From talking about putting the cart on the horse and making our own luck to having nothing but wallpaper and a reluctance to invest. He’s probably clinging on to the hope someone’s gonna gazump Amanda’s offer and when he realises he’s shit out of options he’ll take whatever is on the table. I agree with a few of the comments though. This is probably more or less a done deal and he’s just making sure the exit strategy is on his terms...... Kimbo
Would be the greatest Christmas present, short of Margot Robbie sucking my dick, to wake up on Monday morning to see it announced that the club had been sold. What if you combined the two, and you woke up to find Mike Ashley sucking your dick, pausing to say the club had been sold. Acceptable?
Ameritoon
Margot Robbie could play Amanda Staveley in the biopic about the takeover in a few years time.

If it resulted in him finally selling, I'd take one for the fans. You do release the Chronicle will pick this up as a Takeover update in tomorrows back page. Headline: Newcastle Fan willing to be sucked off by Ashley It will be some of Lee Ryder's best work. ;D
bhoywhonder
Knowing the chron the headline would be something mind-numbingly lame like 'Takeover Blow', possibly including the word 'fury' somewhere in the subheader...

sbnufc
"The proposed takeover of EPL side Newcastle United "has reached a critical stage, with disagreements about the value of the club if it is relegated from the Premier League preventing a quick deal" between Owner Mike Ashley and prospective buyer Amanda Staveley, according to Binham, Vandevelde & Ahmed of the FINANCIAL TIMES. The sides are "still in talks, but questions persist over how to structure a deal" should Newcastle, which has dropped to near the bottom of the league, fall out of English football's top tier, "a failure that would decimate the value" of the club. Contrary to a "flurry of reports that stoked fans' expectations" last week, PCP Capital, the investment company founded by Staveley, has not increased the £250M ($333M) offer it made four weeks ago. Ashley initially sought as much as £400M ($532.9M). Staveley is "resisting paying a high price up front and will not be swayed by promises of a rebate should Newcastle be relegated," according to people familiar with the talks. People close to both sides denied reports that a deal was imminent. The possibility that Newcastle might be relegated for a third time under Ashley's decade-long proprietorship "remains a critical issue." Unless concessions are made soon, a deal "may not be completed before the next transfer window closes in January" (FT, 12/15)."

HaydnNUFC
"Deal may not be done in time for January." I think we all already knew this. It's what happens in January fund wise that matters. Also, I doubt the FT are as clued up as the more reliable journalists such as Caulkin on this whole saga.
