Guest Geordiesned
From today's Ronny Gills; United will report back for training on Monday, July 2, and will be immediately packed off to a boot camp in Austria. Their first pre-season friendly will be at Hartlepool on July 17 and four days later Big Sam will do his former coach Neil McDonald a favour by sending a team to Carlisle United. The news coming out of Carlisle is that this game has been penciled in for St James' Park, but United tell me it is more likely to be staged at Brunton Park. Celtic will be at St James' Park on July 26 and United are expecting they will be followed by Juventus three days later. This is part of the agreement which saw Jean Alain Boumsong move to Turin 12 months ago, and while United are still waiting for final conformation from Juventus, Borussia Dortmund are waiting in the wings should the Italians decide against coming to the North East. Allardyce will then take United to Hull City on Wednesday, August 1, to pit his wits against his former Bolton Wanderers No 2 Phil Brown. And United's pre-season games will be concluded with a match against Sampdoria at St James' Park on Saturday, August 4. Link So the Juve match is on and it'll be Borussia Dortmund if that doens't come off.
Guest Texasmag
Any idea when the tickets for the Hartlepool and Carlisle games will go on sale?
Yorkie
Celtic/Juventus/Sampdoria and Hartlepool/Carlisle/Hull. Nice balance, that. Should see some youngsters blooded, which'll be good. Should be a fun pre-season!
