Peru coach Uribe tells Solano to calm down

LIMA, May 22 (Reuters) - Peru coach Julio Cesar Uribe has told midfielder Nolberto Solano to calm down if he wants to play for his country again.

"I've coached Solano before and I know when he's calm or not," Uribe told local media. "I'm waiting for the right moment to talk to him.

"I'm not going to reply to absurd comments, for the time being I'm just observing."

The Newcastle United player has not played for his country since a World Cup qualifier against Uruguay in 2005.

Recently, he has publicly criticised the Peruvian federation, especially over plans to play home World Cup qualifiers at high altitude in the Andean city of Cuzco.

Uribe has not yet made it clear whether Solano will be picked for the Copa America in Venezuela.

"The player has to dedicate himself to playing," Uribe said. "He should come when he's happy and not when he's arguing with everyone. I want him to be calmer."

Peru play neighbours Ecuador in two friendlies in Spain next month as part of their Copa America warm-up.
