it is just a game when you do not take it seriously. if you take it professionally, you can make living from it, make it a global business. you can unite or divide a nation or even the whole world from it. for a FIFA referee, it is not just a game. it is his job and responsibilty, because a simple mistake can result in big negative consequences. that is why he is called professional. just like a civil engineer cannot say his bridge project as 'just a bridge', because if it collapses people die.

 

i think for people who take football as not just a game, it is a clear indication of how it is so important to them. nothing wrong with that, some people take shopping, family, girlfriends, relligion, their jobs, cars , music as not just what it is.  as human beings we want other people to acknowledge what is important to us, instead of to disapprove it.
