  1. Might as well have stuck fatty Nolan up front! I'd imagine that's plan Y. And Kuqi is plan Z.
  2. Pardew must really think the rest of our team is shit if he thinks we need someone just to hoof the ball at. I'd imagine Pardew thinks the team is to thin, in more than one sense Can't wait to see Kuqi and Nolan lining up for set pieces. The opposition will feel like they've been caught in a buffalo stampede. Don't forget Sol.
  3. He's there to make Sol & K-Nol feel thinner.

  5. Yes because overpaid, unfit, unmotivated Brazilians are exactly what we need to bring into the dressing room. But less talented, unfit, 34 year old, journeyman Finns are great? We were going to get someone utterly shit either way, to be fair.
  6. Ewerthon was awfully piss poor three years ago, a shadow of his days at Dortmund. We're not missing out on anything spectacular.
  7. Starting at the weekend, then? Ranger and Best are fit for the weekend.
  8. This. Depth purely. Even if he did make the odd appearance at least he can hold the fucking ball up. People need to calm down Could agree with the above two posts more. Pardew has even said whoever we bring in is cover and nothing else.
  9. I doubt he'll play much if at all. Screams back up.
  10. Good idea, unless they can suggest another area of the ground which has enough space to allow the displaced fans to congregate which isn't hugely expensive.
  11. I'll get on the phone to Eileen Drury, ask her if she can sort Shola out ASAP.
  12. So why haven't H&S stopped the standing there? Is it because they're top 4 clubs? Because the clubs don't officially allow it, I imagine. Have a few stewards ask a few thousand people to sit down once or twice a match and the club can claim they're policing it.
  13. You're not meant to stand anywhere let alone the Leazes, the club are just relatively lax on policing it. There's no point in mentioning it because it will only get used as a stick to beat us with. Precisely. It's a luxury the club have afforded for a long time, don't think we should be so ready to give it up, if possible ... Thing is the club aren't ever going to say we can stand because they could lose their safety certificate. It'll be the actions of the stewards which let you know how serious the club is about it. Obviously standing will always go on in some capacity. If the club asked I'd play it down, just say that you're interested in creating an atmosphere and singing rather than standing.
  14. There's no point in saying "well they do it" because standing for prolonged periods simply isn't meant to go on.

  16. - Was the clubs decision to extend the family enclosure based on the fact there's a large number of people under the age of 21 and/or families sitting there? - Do the club understand the benefit that a singing section can have on performances on the pitch? - Would the club try to block any attempts by fans to set up an unofficial singing section if they're unable to support us in setting up a new one? If so, why? Are they even able to answer that? If they say "no" then it will be construed as the club giving their blessing, which won't go down well with the H&SE They're socially and professionally obliged to be negative towards the idea as public safety has to be paramount inside the stadium, even at the expense of common sense. What's dangerous about singing? You know fine well that standing goes hand in hand with any potential new 'singing section'. I know fine well? Christ, it's like talking to my bloody mother Standing will happen at football regardless of whether there's a singing section or not. The club can tell the stewards to police it as strictly as they see fit/are required and I've no doubt they will if it's that much of an issue for them. On a personal level I enjoy standing at football, mainly because it's baffling that anyone can deem it unsafe and I also find seating at football stadia incredibly uncomfortable. Unless it's upholstered, cushioned and massages your back then I don't want to fucking know. However standing is not the be all and end all for me, I would just want to sit in an area of the ground where I wont get looked at like I'm having a wank at a wedding if I have a singsong. That fine with you, daft lad?

What's dangerous about singing? The club managed to set up a singing section three years ago with little or no fuss from 'Elf & Safety so your point is moot.
  18. How many of these hundreds of displaced fans won't be able to get a ticket in the expanded family enclosure, or in the young person area? Of those, how many will now be able to take advantage of the new monthly direct debit and the 10-fixed price freeze? That additional £100-200 will soon come back to them. It's not perfect, but it genuinely seems as though a certain section are trying to use every last thing to complain about the ownership/get their name in the news. Especially as they don't even sit in L7. The likes of BowlingCrofty - fair play to him for coming back on and apologising/explaining his intial anger - have something to be upset about. I would hope that if he contacts the customer relations team at the club, then they might be able to offer something for people like BC to sweeten the transaction (maybe a bit extra discount, etc.) The annoyance about not being able to 'stand' without any problems is not one we can level at the club, it was something they were willing (for whatever reason) to turn a blind eye to for the past 3 years but now (for whatever reason cough*FCB*cough) they no longer want to promote. I sit in Level 7, I'm too old to take advantage of the 18-21 section and I'm not too happy about having to shell out £120 plus extra next season for a season ticket in an area of the ground I don't even want to sit in where I'm probably going to gave to sit knee to back with some dull twat who complains about pretty much everything. Do I have a right to whinge?

  20. This tbh. As long as they're not badly spelled or defamatory then I have no issue, although I'd take out the standing bit.

  22. I think you're talking shit. Singing area is the only bit of the ground that seems to give a toss most of the time bar a small section of the Gallowgate The crowd are generally led by events on the pitch. We do not need a specific singing section. This. I don't think the singing section actually created a better atmosphere (that's to do with the build of the stadium) but it was great to have somewhere where fans who wanted to sing and stands all game could.
  23. So are we (as in the kids, charvas and grown adults who should know better) going to organise ourselves and look at taking over another part of the ground? Would be nice.
  24. It's a shame it's eating into the Leazes Corner.Thankfully as I'm plonked at the very back I'll not be moved, I'll just after battle past loads of kiddywinks on my way to my seat. Still, the ten year deal/price freeze is a magnificent idea. Opt out any time you like after next season for no extra cost. I think I'll get on that.
