  1. As he was cheering on his boyhood club and watching a 17 year old Lewis Miley starting games in the Champions league, I'm sure Rigg was thinking how much better off he was failing to make the bench at a struggling Championship club that's had more managers in his lifetime than he's had birthdays. He'll surely also have taken note of how far young Jobe has progressed this season under the superb coaching setup at Sunderland and looked on RTG to see the encouraging and patient support that he receives from their loyal supporters while developing as a player.

He'll be itching to sign a long term professional contract with them I'm sure.

  2. People are overthinking the attendance (tickets allocated) figures if you think they're making the numbers up or giving thousands away IMO.

Adult Season Tickets are priced from £420, with under-16s able to secure their seat from £55!

Over-65s can support the Black Cats from just £290, with under-22s and under-18s from £180 and £105 respectively.

    Under 16s, £2.50 a game. Under 18s, £4.50. Even £8 for under 22s is nowt these days.

The low prices for kids are commendable, but it also means there's very little lost in not attending especially on a school night or when their form is shit and there's nothing to play for.

9 points & 8 goals from the last 14 games, no chance of the playoffs, and no threat of relegation. It's no wonder half of them aren't turning up.

I can understanding shifting one but both? That's insane.

But getting £50m each from Al-Insheara would really help with FFP.

Either of those come in he's off, no matter how much he smoozes the Murderers apologists. I don't personally rate him. I was better than him at his age & there are Lads I knew who'd f***ing ruin him ability wise. They're the most corrupt set of deluded wankers on earth.

Welcome to the Theatre of Dreams, Dan. Where we make the impossible come to life.

I know spending so much money without coming close to winning the league for over 10 years does seem impossible, but to be fair you've made it look easy.

Is there any comparable cases. I remember Swindon getting demoted 1 division in 1990 for finances (Mackems spawning a free promotion) and Rangers got demoted 3 divisions for tax? Dunno if these are similar

Only the lowest of the low would make under the counter payments to staff to subvert the financial fairplay rules of the league.

How big is the clean sheets thing becoming this season, fucking massive

    From nufc.com:

fifth successive top-flight league clean sheet - something never achieved by a Magpies side in the entire history of the club.

    Seems mental that.

Are you the NUFC fan posting on there? Not sure why anyone would tbh, they’re that backward that regardless of what the conversation topic is, it’s impossible for it to be constructive.

Nah, I have a login to keep up with threads but it's far too toxic to post as a NUFC supporter over there.

Just got back in from celebrating in the Bigg market, what have I missed?

The Saudi result against Argentina really has tipped some of them completely over the edge on RTG like. Under normal circumstances they'd be laughing at Argentina & Messi for the result against weaker opposition but they're having to double down on how all Newcastle supporters now support SA and everything they do.

You expect the odd idiot in the NUFC thread over there to slip in a bit of casual islamophobia, and by now I realise that the mods will let it go even though they obviously read the thread as some of them post in it. But it's coming to something when it's reported and mods condone it and even chip in to deny it's racist because "you're not an arab so how can it be racist" or "it's ok because of SA's human rights record".

'Camel humper' is just the language getting "a bit salty" apparently.

  10. Just double checked, was 17 accounts (released in 18) & Penn's completely wrong. Was an onerous contract provision, rather than an impairment of asset value, to the tune of £21m.

Staff costs (including promotion related payments and provisions for onerous contracts) were as follows:

    2016 - £74.7m

    2017 - £112.2m

    2018 - £93.6m

Provisions for liabilities - Onerous employment contracts & other charges

    2016 - £0

    2017 - £21m

    2018 - £12.2m (£9.7m provisions released in the year)

    2019 - £8.2m (£4m provisions released in the year)

  11. I don't go shopping much these days, but I've not seen any NUFC merchandise down here since early Ashley days.

However there was a rack of these in Primark in amongst other random t-shirts (no other footy related stuff).

No idea what it means, but found it bizarre for all sorts of reasons.

  12. I'm ignoring any zero rated goods in the UK as I don't think SD will sell many of these but if they do then the impact is a lot worse than my first example (yay).

Kid's clothes & shoes are zero rated in the UK aren't they? Don't know about the rest of the EU, but this suggests not.

Would think that's a significant percentage of sales.

  13. Odin

The whole WhatsApp message thing is one of the least offensive, least cringeworthy and least forum aids posted in this whole shit fest of a thread. People wanting him banned need to get a life. If he’s duped anyone, more fool those that bought into the whole thing from the off, some of the numpties in here have only themselves to blame and on reading come out of this looking way more stupid and pathetic than Odin him/herself.

    No-one mention Hitzfeldgate

  14. The balls on this pack of liars not believing something.

A spokesperson for Sports Direct said: "We don't believe this poll is a true reflection of customer opinion. By contrast, Sports Direct was listed as No1 in a top ten of the most improved global brands published by the YouGov BrandIndex earlier this year."

A spokesperson for House of Fraser said: "We are surprised by this poll, as we have received positive feedback from customers since the business has been under new ownership, which has saved stores and jobs. We are confident this will be reflected in future polls."

    :slowclap:

    Oh, but wait...

Sports Direct, the most improved brand this year, has seen its score improve by +6.2 points(sic), moving from -12.4 to -6.2.

    http://www.brandindex.com/ranking/uk/2018-index/category/high-street-retail

Well done to Sports Direct for going from a rating of terrible to slightly less terrible.

Still a lower "overall brand health" in 2018 than BHS which went out of business 2 years ago though, so not all good news.
