What happens when the inevitable wind up merchants appear and scuttle any optimisn we might have.....I’m sure the optimism thread will remain quiet for a while, but needs to remain in place ........just in case. There is wind up merchants on both sides. It needs to stop. We are not going to hear anything until the arbitration ruling so there’s no real point of a thread to see what RE Maine says because unless he is privy to the arbitration dealings as said many times he knows fuck all. Also the constant ‘look who Ashley has hired, how can we lose patter irks me too. Both sides have very competent and impressive people on their side. Let’s try and concentrate on facts only or we are going to drive ourselves and each other mad until this plays out

Exactly the opposite of this. His possible bias (and I do not think he would have ever been so) has been totally exposed into the public domain by De-Marco . . so (if anything) he will have to show to the maximum externt that he has bent over backwards to NOT be biased. Great move by De-Marco, probably everything he wanted . . ie, far better than having another 'unknown quantity' as a replacement Chairman. Brilliant.

Don't believe a word of that. Why don’t you? I just don't believe Ashley would have agreed to a figure that high. It will be closer to half of that amount. The same idiot that gave pardew, carver, stone & woodman 8 year contracts with no clauses and had to pay them up in full. Aye I well believe it. Also wasn’t Rafa on £6m a year? He probably thought less was a bargain for Bruce We dont know what, if any, clauses were in their contracts. Dont get me wrong, Ashley is definitely stupid enough to have agreed to it. I just dont think he would have though. I’m only going from what Andy woodman said and he has said publicly that there was no break clauses and they were paid in full (except him as they wanted to keep him)

I really don’t want to go down. I honestly can’t understand anyone that would. I get that Ashley potentially loses money but so what? I want to see how the takeover/arbitration plays out first and I really really don’t want to potentially be in the same league as the Mackems next season even if do take less of an interest

Newcastle United remains up for sale with Mike Ashley still eager to sell the club he took over in 2007 - but bargain hunters have been told to forget hopes an early price reduction this week. And while there have been suggestions that United had effectively been taken off the market amid the threat of relegation this week, such a stance emerged after a flurry of new enquiries for Newcastle. Indeed, Chronicle Live has learned that Newcastle have been approached by overseas buyers who had enquired about the prospect of buying the Magpies IF they are relegated and whether a knockdown price - as low as £50million in one case - would be acceptable to Ashley.

Surely surely he needs to go tomorrow and let Jones take the team otherwise the West Brom game is as good as lost. There’s no way the players will play him. Probably the lift the players would get from Bruce not being their manager anymore would probably be enough to keep us up
