Unfortunetly, the caption is probably already there. "Newcastle United's Training Session for Man Utd Visit".

No offence to Huntington or Edgar but the fact that we are here at New Years with reserve teenagers Huntington and/or Edgar set to square off against Rooney, Ronaldo etc. is a f***ing ridiculous state of affairs for a Premiership club. It's bad enough that wasters like Carr and Babayaro are first choice, but the fact that we bought absolutely NO COVER this summer does not reflect well on the club. They dug this f***ing hole and if we get twatted tomorrow they should take the blame along with the players. This is what happens when you piss away a transfer window looking for a striker and ignore the fact that our defence is - on its very best day - average.
-
No Duff. So 18 year old reservist centre-half in at left back against probably the most in form player in the Premiership then?

I'd like Bale or Baines and it would be nice to have someone with Premiership experience, but I doubt we have the kind of money necessary to get a young, quality English defender. Bale will probably go for close to 10 mil after all the hype. At best we could get Upson - who is overpriced and probably overrated. Luque is probably a big asset this January - surely we can find some Spanish club that still rates him, needs a striker and would be willing to do an exchange.

-----------------Given-------------------
---------Taylor--Huntington-----------
Solano-------------------------------Duff
------------Parker---Butt---------------
Milner------------------------------Emre
----------Le Sib-------Oba---------------
Subs: Pav, Edgar, Pattison, Dyer, Carroll
As well as Dyer has played so far, I'd keep him on the bench. He's played a lot over Christmas, and we know his record. If we manage to keep it close in the second half, he would be more useful coming on for Emre or Milner and giving us an actual option to change the game. Please no 4-5-1 Roeder, please. We all know Taylor, Huntington, Ramage etc. will hoof it long so at least give us a chance by playing Sibbers. If Duff isn't fit I don't know what I'd do at left back. Maybe ask Emre to play there. Putting Huntington or Edgar as our full backs against Ronaldo will be just embarassing.

I honestly think Steadman should be paraded round SJP at HT and given the key to the city.
Agreed. I bet he loves our club. If business slows down he just has to wait for the Engish football season to start and he knows a plane load of Newcastle players will be on their way.

I actually think the performance will improve against Man U. Teams rarely get thrashed twice in a row and that feels like a match where we lose 0-1 and try to avoid depression by saying it was a good performance with the injuries we had and we were unlucky not to snatch a point.
-
I'm very worried for Monday - Man United must be odds on to hammer us.
Henrik Larsson versus the mighty Peter Ramage. Huntington v. Rooney. Can't wait.
Can't say I'm too worried about Larsson.
Is he not playing or something?

Quality. I can't stand Man Utd, but I really want them to win the league and stick 2 fingers up to Chelsea.
When that happens, we'll only end up being reminded how annoying the Man U supporters themselves were when they were winning it. I couldn't care less. If anything, I hope Arsenal somehow make up the ground and take it.

Post match thoughts: TRANSFER WINDOW

Chelsea 1 Fulham 1. Lampard.

Fulham lead at Stamford Bridge.
I'm watching this one and they just said Volz against Chelsea was no. 15000.

All the more reason to keep playing Huntington and maybe even Edgar... if "established" pros will be making the same mistakes as 18 year old first timers... then might as well let the youngsters learn from their mistakes.
I agree...but they weren't MotM material.
Dyer was excellent before he tired and Milner was also playing well. Butt was reasonably good too.
-
Why was Emre left on the bench?
Was he injured or didn't Roeder have the balls to drop captain fantastic?
So Butt did betterr than Parker?
Parker is one of the better players for goodness sake.
Stop the irrational Parker bashing.
Sorry, but Parker was really terrible today. I'm not overreacting, I don't want him dropped from the team, and I don't regard what happened today as a disaster by any means....but Parker was shocking.
-
If Bramble and Carr did the job of Huntington and Edgar today then they would have been rightly slated. Edgar & Huntington obviously have more of an excuse (18 yr vs. Anelka) but they still weren't brilliant. Their distribution was poor - Huntington especially.
-
I really admire Allardyce's ability to get old, fat, useless players like Campo to finish in a good position, but I always come away from these games against Bolton thinking that I wouldn't want Big Sam anywhere near Newcastle if we end up like them. Hate them, I really do.
-
Please don't allow the inexperience of the backfour to disguise the fact that Butt & Parker were clueless in the second half and unable to complete a pass to anyone in black and white.
And can anyone explain why Milner was taken off?
-
Parker is shit.

I thought this thread would be about the number of 'EMRE IS SHITE PARKER IS CRAP DYER IS USELESS ROEDER IS INCOMPETENT THE WORLD IS ENDING' threads currently on the board after a 0-1 defeat to the most expensively assembled team ever who won a match in the least important competition we play in by cheating.
My mistake.
But it really does make you wonder how there are still people prepared to make racist slurs like that in public. I'd love to see someone make a comment like that at a sporting event near where I live and see what happens.

Crouch and Ameobi would be the worst strike partnership anywhere, ever.
