We need to upgrade several positions and players and then we are going for a replacement for Guthire
-
Ideally he should be the 4th choice CB.
Can do a job now and then as emergency cover but he's going to get exposed when given an extended run in the team, a team like Spurs who play a slick passing game was always a potential nightmare matchup for him.
If he's happy in a squad role then I'd look to keep him in the summer, he's not terrible.
yep

Thread title needs updating.
No kidding

Even if I can agree with this to some extent it wouldn´t have been a great idé at Tottenham. He hadn´t the player and should have been playing deeper in the defence.
Of course its all conjecture, but I think playing HBA instead of Obertan gainst Spurs would have at least kept their defenders on their toes. With Obertan, their fullback was overlapping and we were under wave and wave of attacks.
Ah. Maybe. But Arfa wasn´t the type of player that was missing. Think Raylor was a bigger loss. With him in the team the first goal probably wasn´t going to happen. If Tioté and Cabaye was playing then Arfa may have been a alternative.
Anyway. Was thinking about his comment. Really strange and far away from anything we have seen from him before. For me he seems very emotionally and frustrated with the players he had in the midfield, and not calm with carefully weighed words. Don´t know what to think of it. In some sense it quite refreshing but still maybe not. As I said, he sounds very frustrating for some reason.
In-playing that Raylor is a key player - well I would though: not that good.

Nice article with him in the swedish sport paper Sportbladet, where he also confirms that he will leave in the summer.
Short summery for you who can´t swedish or don´t want to google translate it
*He says that he very much indeed has enjoyed his time here. That the city is great, even though the weather may not have been.
*He thinks that PL is the best league in the world and that you makes very good money here... (he also seems content to stay in England).
*He says that he and the players like Ashley and that he´s a nice guy.
* It was hard to see Barton leave because he was a good player and a a great team player. But that it´s much calmer now when he left, as it has been since Carroll left too because apparently he wasn´t afraid to pick his fights...
*He also has a stick at Liverpool ala "It feels like it. As soon as someone gets good here, they buy him" at the following up question of what he thinks of Ba: "Ba scores tons of goals here and if it continues then Liverpool probably will buy him.
*He also says that him and Cissé is starting to be really big stars here.

If we can´t bet Wolves next I don´t think we belong in top 7... really poor performance from them.

To not have Guthire tide down already is just woefully.
-
Disappointed but it was no way as bad as the Fulham game and etc. Think this loss was a "better" loss than say a 0-1. This just showed all lot what has to be improved and which player that just is not up to it.
Of course Pardew could have played it a little bit better (Why oh way did he have to wait to half time to chance. Even if it just was after 10 minutes he should have made chances. That is one thing I can´t understand managers, why be so afraid?) but really dosn´t blame him to much. Tottenham was just to good.
-
Like him really much and was so happy to see him get some game time, which he from now on should have planty off. He did ok in the circumstances after all. wished he should go for it a bit more, but not that fussed. Though he put in two really good crosses, but it was just none in the box.
-
Was it he who put in an absolutely beauty of a cross in secoend half. Just WOW. Haven´t seen that from a Newcastle player for ever basiclly. Think he should play at the right flank
-
Superb
also good that it is a decent team in CCC and not some dross in league one or lower like we use too.

Pardew
-
I want HBA in the line up as much as anyone, but i fully understand why Pardew doesnt want to start him with Guthrie and Perch in midfield, Best and Shola upfront and Simpson at RB........
When they come back( Tiote and Cabaye) and Simpson is replaced by a quality fullback i hope to see Pardew give him more chances......
But atm the defensive cover is too weak to have someone like Ben Arfa playing on the right side of a 4-4-2......
Let's not use Ben Arfa not playing to cloud our judgement, Pardew is doing an insane job.
Our best manager since Sir Bobby IMO.
Not had much competition tbf.
Disagree...
Since Sir Bobby; Souness, Roeder, Allardyce, Kinnear and Hughton have been our manager. That is a shit load of managers = lot of competitions.
(understand what you mean, just disagree with the statment )

LFC v Spurs: Reina; Kelly, Skrtel, Agger, Johnson; Spearing, Adam, Gerrard; Kuyt, Bellamy, Carroll.
f***, looks like they want to win this one then.

the thing that buggs me most is that Jonas and Obertan is very similar as players. Still Jonas is a beast and Obertan is s****
one has a brain
rather a bigger fighting spirit.
dose ´t think Jonas is a specially smart player at all.
-
Didn´t he was great at all when he came in. just as bad as any game this season, bar tottenham. he did keep the ball great. but that is one of few things he is good at and something you rarely do. as stated many times before. he is not a good footballer.

Not such a big fan of Jonas as some other in here. But one thing I notice and like is that he seems to pot in the ball earlier in to the box than before. He stills hold on to the ball far to long (see the goal) but he do play the ball earlier more often then before (see the goal). Like that
-
Absolutely right decision to not play him in the Villa game and not sub him in when Raylor went out.

Our midfield is too weak to get anything here.
Look at that strike force man, anything is possible.

With Wolves being the opponent and with Guthires lovley form it would be dreaming to see:
Krul
Simpson - Willo - Colo - Santon
Cabaye - Tioté - Guthire
Cissé - Ba - Ben Arfa
which ones who should play at the right wing/left wing is not important here, this was just to show the formation with the players in it
