a stuttering run only half way into the box, for a cutback (they did it twice before he scored), Howe

made no adjustments or sent out any instructions.

We've basically bought 3 players who's natural game is cutting in from the left or playing as a left winger/forward. Almiron, Joe and Maxim. And now we're stuck trying to get them to play other roles. Joe will never be a No.9 as this eliminates his prime asset of pace and running at the opposition cutting in on his right foot. There has been no thinking in these acquisitions whatsoever.

Spurs have 3/4 games like this every season. Slow methodical recycling to the point of boredom.

They don't know what they are doing answers a lot of these little mysteries. It's been clear over the last decade that it's all seat of the pants stuff and very little attention to detail. Just got lucky with Rafa, won't happen again.

He's never a central striker. He's more a wide/loose forward like Allmybangs. He needs the space out wide to use his pace and come in from there. Comparing him to Rondon is silly.

....and shoehorn a wide forward like JoeLinton into the central striker role where he can't use half his assets.

Almiron was our best player till he tired. First half was reasonable but as the game wore on we looked completely out of ideas and overwhelmed by a simple passing game. We're going to have to go 442 with close support for JoeLinton (not up to PL pace yet) or goals are going to be hard to come by. Not sure SB really understood what was going on out there. 

Looks like a tidy striker who can also come in from the left. 1/3 record in the Bundesliga.

Other alternative is Rafa has told him to let it be known that he is available via his agent, get a huge bid lined up, then use the promised influx of funds to negotiate transfer funds from ashley, then tell lascelles to delay and confuse negotiations on the contracts so long that the transfer window shuts before he is actually sold
