  1. I am certain that this has been said already so apologies but a huge amount of Whelan's stance on this  lies in the unadulterated hatred there has been between him and Mike Ashley over a number of years. DW believes that Ashley systematically set out (and succeeded) to destroy JJB.

  2. TT, do you really believe Ashley would keep Pardew if he finishes 10th but not if he finishes 15th? Doesn't seem to tally with the common view that Ashley isn't interested in football. Why should those two finishes be any different in his eyes?

FWIW I think Pardew is here for the long term unless we get relegated.

Everything internally at the football club - currently anyway - revolves around finishing 8th as "par"
  3. being linked with targets is nothing, we had denuchy sorted last season, but because os ashley it dident happen. we could be linked and rumoured with anyone ,, can you honestly tell me you think ashley is bringing in a CB and CM and remy/winger/striker? i say no chance. any other club or owner i would be hopeful, not with this lot tbh its all about money

  4. This is what my French friend thinks about him. And she does know her football:

"Please also pray for the French team! It needs support to qualify for the 2014 World in Cup!

You are very lucky to get Debuchy! He is an amazing player with a bright future and he is not too stupid, compared with Ben Arfa…. ;)"

  5. Don'

Impossibly handsome combination there, so handsome it hurts  :undecided:

    Seydoux man, please!!

Don't forget how much he hates us. I thought he was going to ask me to leave his - Film Director - office when I told him who i support. That was 18 months ago but suspect he hasn,t forgotten...

  6. I wouldn't be happy but at the same time what's the point of keeping an unhappy player? We'd have a contingency plan if such a thing happened. We're a club who's prepared these days.

Of course, but it's not easy for a club like Lille to replace a France international and probably their best player. I have no problem with the way Lille are doing this. It's what we have said about our club earlier. The the replacement in before selling the player. The only way to do it.

They're not a club that can attract great players and at the same time their best players want to leave. It sucks for them but it's reality.

The last two seasons they have brought in Roux, Payet, Kalou, and Marvin Martin. Honestly, they've replaced their outgoings quite well. It is a very well-run club.

Promising young players yes (except Kalou) but not great players (yet). That's about what they can expect as a club. Buy promising players and develop them.

A bit like us then really.

We certainly run the club in a similar way at the moment, though that's were the similarity ends.

I met the owner of Lille, Michel Seydoux, a couple of years ago. He said (then) that Newcastle were the worst club he had ever dealt with.

  7. So this ITK has told them there's been a row, but he doesn't know who it's between, what it's about or how serious it is. Or even whether it's serious at all.

    Scoop.

In a nutshell, top and bottom of it.

These threads which attempt to kick off some negativity always seem to be started by posters who appear from nowhere in the hope they can get some momentum going. i.e. sad macums or other NUFC detractors.

4 whole pages of absolute nothingness so far.

    Yep, utter s****.

    It's not unfortunately.

  8. He's one of the more humble managers out there, always gives the opposition praise and doesn't get himself into slagging matches/mind games. There's really very little to hate about the man.

Tbf, he did call O'Neill a c***. Not that that's anything to hate him for.

I will never forget how polite and friendly and gracious he was to me and my daughter immediately after the Fulham match. Pure class, given the circumstances.

  9. Does anybody really think we sold Nolan and Barton because Pardew wanted to? Or was it those above him who made that decision?

I've always suspected Pardew was quite keen to get rid of Nolan, not so certain about Barton though.

Well apparently - from a source that could not be telling anything other than the truth: Nolan was sold basically because firstly his influence on the other players was felt to be too great, secondly because of his drinking and thirdly because the club felt his physical conditioning and mobility was only going to go one way. Barton was sold because his mood on any particular day had too big an impact on the whole club. If he came to tarining in the wrong mood, the whole camp was affected and he was just completely unplayable.

  10. Bizarre. Had dinner tonight at an ice-hockey match in Germany with the owner of Hoffenheim. He said that messing up Demba's contract cost him €5 million. His worst transfer mistake ever.

He also said that Cisse is the real deal.

  11. Spurs are away at Arsenal, not at home to Wolves. We should have played the way Spurs did last time out against us.

That will be the Wolves that are unbeaten in five away games, including at Spurs?

Give over man, they're not a good team and we had no reason to sit back and play frightened like we did.

I agree completely, I'm just trying to retain a bit of balance here.
