hardly anyone under the age of 30 will know what a forum is tbh

Clearly you don't talk to people aged 20-30 then.

I work with plenty, and they all know exactly what a forum is. Many use them. Especially gamers (who will more likely be male), there's loads of forums for every game under the sun and our players are likely keen gamers, they're the ideal demographic.

Add in that this forum is specifically about them and their jobs, and it's impossible to imagine that none of them are aware of it. And it only takes one of them to be aware of it and then ALL of them will know about it within no time. And they've had what, 2 decades for even one of them to find it.

It's incredibly naive for anyone to think we can shitpost on here completely consequence-free and that the people we're slating will never be aware of what's written.

OK, so I'm not supposed to share this but... Bruno reads this forum. Also there's a secret ITK forum that only certain members havea access to.

I'd be shocked if half the squad didn't read the forum.

Some on here when that's suggested act like this is some kind of hidden darkweb site that is almost inaccessible rather than being an incredibly popular fan site that's been going for donkeys years. Couple that with players being young, tech-savvy and with lots of free time, of course they're going to be reading it.

    Be astonished to find otherwise.

  3. Just for fun I've just checked ours, and there's nobody who has lived under Newcastle being outside the PL more than in it. Even if you were born in 1892, you'd still not be able to say that.

It's not even close for any birth year. Closest I can find is people born in the mid-30s or late 70s, but even then for those people it's not even close to parity.

You have to be at least 74 to have been alive when Sunderland haven't spent the majority of seasons out the top flight

    Not *quite* true.

Anyone born from 1994 to 2010 could say they've lived through Sunderland being in the top flight more than outside it.

Outside of that range though, you're right and you have to go back to people born in or before 1950. (Yes I'm bored, but Excel meant it really only took about 5 minutes)

From 1891 to 1958 they were ever-present in the top flight. They have history - Just not in the memories of anyone who also can't remember Hitler's bombing raids.

Who can afford to pay decent money for ESR though? The clubs who will be interested can't splash out because of FFP.

Unless I've missed something or am confusing him with someone else, Smith Rowe is basically broken isn't he? Missed years of football and he's still young. He'll doubtless still show flashes of talent for a year or 2 when he's fit but then he'll start to rapidly decline.

Anyone who takes him on a big fee and wages is an idiot.

At the end of the day it's just up to Bruno. He seems very happy here to me.

This. We can do nothing about a player with a release clause, we just have to hope it's A) not triggered or if it is, B) he turns down the approaching club because he's happy here.

Beyond that, bugger all we can do. Not worth wasting much energy on.

Why didn't anyone else offer £40m for a 29 year old Fabinho to Liverpool?

    That makes no sense.

Just because Fabinho was overpriced doesn't mean ASM was underpriced. Fact remains, I doubt we sold him to Saudi for less than we could get elsewhere.

  8. I will always appreciate what Rafa did for us, every match we went into I always thought we had a chance in, even against the really big sides. You just knew he'd have a plan and that whilst we might not win, he'd at least get most things right in our approach.

I don't care what he has or hasn't done since leaving us, that cannot and will not ever have any effect on how I feel about his tenure here. It's utterly irrelevant. Here he was great, and that's all I care about.

This article says abput £20m for winning Europa League and £13m for winning the Conference League. Obviously there's matchday income to go on top presumably, 3x home group games plus potentially a R16, QF and SF, could easily add another £20m?

Didn't I read somewhere that we got like £4.5m for the CL this season?

Granted we didn't win, and much was down to coefficients, but it seems mad that we'd very likely get way more for a lower-value competition.

Sick of “top 6” fans just assuming they’re having Isak like he’s a free sample at Tesco.

The "Top 6" concept is a joke.

We're 6th now. And we were 4th last year. And we're all pretty confident that next year we can do better than this year, if and when we've got an actual squad available again.

At least one of those clubs is deluded if they think they're in any kind of Top 6 conversation.

Yes and again, the purpose of laying out two sides wasn't for what you've said above.

I mean fair enough if you're saying that now, but you literally labelled them 'PL' and 'Europe'

For arguements sake, with no incomings or outgoings next year:

    PL:

                         Pope

    Trippier    Schar    Botman   Tino

                        Bruno

           Tonali                Joelinton

    Gordon                             Barnes

                          Isak

    Europe:

                       Dubravka

    Krafth     Lascelles    Burn    Hall

                          Miley

            Longstaff         Willock

    Minteh                               Anderson

                         Wilson

Obviously I'm aware there will be players in and players out and also that you don't have to change an entirely 11 from one game to the next. But that European front 6 is decent but it highlights needing defenders.

Just on that note, it seems an odd and contradictory idea to say we want Europe to help keep our best players, then rest all those players in Europe.

Don't get me wrong, it raises a smile when I see they've got beat. But if they win I'm not going down a rabbit hole of conspiracy theories to try and explain it, usually just crack on with the rest of my weekend tbh...

TBH I can't really remember what I do when they win.

  14. With most players, when they get space to take a clear shot at goal you get excited to see what happens next.

With Isak, you know what happens next, it's just a question of which part of the goal he chooses to put it into.

  15. 26 minutes ago, TheBrownBottle said:

At the moment, yes.  But they’d still be subject to fair market valuations.  So you couldn’t sell Benton Park for £1bn.

Ok so we'll sell for 1.5m and buy it back for 1.4m. both could be 'fair', then just repeat that 500 times a day.

Employ a team of people just to repeatedly process this for as long as we can, day and night.

Never understood the hype with Leeds I'll be honest. 3 league titles and 1 FA Cup in their entire history I think it is and in Europe 2 Fairs Cups so 6 trophies to their name.

Are we really going down that road? We're not much better, especially not for almost the entirety of the last seven decades, which is the functioning memory of almost our entire active fan base.

"Bald men" and "comb" spring to mind.
