Sorry if this has been asked before but, which league is the next one for the womans team and how far away are they in the league pyramid from the Womens Super League thing that is on teevee quite reguarly?

I am almost certain he was stripped and ready to come on the pitch at the very end of our match vs. Southampton - only the final whistle saved us from that haha!

Biggest load of bullshit ever....   we should be investigated because Man City are owned by a Sheik and Man Utd have attracted interest from the Middle East as well.  We are in danger of being caught allowing people with money to invest their money into something they want to invest their money into....   Then the people with no money will be sad and never win the league...  what a twisty faced twat!

Feel a bit sorry for Southampton and the fans, they are not such a hateful club like, some of the nothing teams in the Premier League.  They play some nice football and even though we have beaten them like, 3 times this season already they never looked like a team that was just there making up the numbers.  Decent!  I bet their fans don't clear out at half time no matter what the score is!

That said I will be gutted if we do not take 3 points and take them comfortably on Sunday!

When you consider that this tackle caused Longstaff some considerable discomfort and Little Arms shoved him while he was on the ground I think Everton got away really lightly with no penalty or bookings.

For me it was a penalty all day long and there should have been some cards flashed!!

We have +32 goal difference!!  I can barely remember a season recently where we even scored 32 goals.

Even just a single season on the Premier League would bring in money the likes of which the Don (do they still call him that?) could only ever dream of.  Talking about 100mil to finish last plus some delightful marrashute payments to help the transition back into the Championship...

It is basically - or would be - all he ever dreamed of when he bought Sun'lun.  Maybe even enough money to print something on the front of their seeyson cards.

Even the young kid that has some money in a trust fund would be in a whole different world with Premier League money to play with...

I would rather they stayed skint frankly...  hate everything about the club!

I want us to win this game really badly.

Anthony twice gave him a hell of a hard time and then just last week Bowen got by several times.  Maybe that is your exact point (fully agree with you)

I agree with you, as well, that Burn does very well in a face to face challenge and also has a habit of taking the ball from an onrushing winger (with his long cumbersome legs :-)  ) but, when they turn him or pass him at pace he is done.  

Don't get me wrong though, I think Burn is great and I am not criticizing him, although I guess I kind of am.   I thought that Targett handled Bowen excellently when he came on vs West Ham the other week, it is just a slightly different approach and one that could be a surprise to teams we play against, when they expect to see Burn in left back but, we make a change!

The self belief from fans of Aston Villa that their club is somehow special or one that no player could possibly turn down the chance to play for is staggering.

Every fan of every club holds their own club in high regard, no doubt but, Villa fans are a step beyond that....  I have no idea why they seem to hate us so much either, personally I see them as a complete nothing club, going nowhere with mid to upper mid table their glass ceiling but, extremely low risk of relegation.  They mean nothing to any other football fan...  some fans (even on here) have soft spots for other clubs and look out for the results and so on.  I would be hugely surprised if anyone puts Villa into that category. 

For the comments I read from their lot recently and further back I would take a huge amount of satisfaction to hammer these by 4 or 5 goals.  While that is unlikely I would still enjoy a win of any kind and feel that with our current form we have a good chance....  

We have seen that Eddie has his "Blue Print" for how he wants to play but, also have evidence now that he can (and will) change that when he feels it is appropriate or necessary.  He must have seen Dan Burn getting ran ragged recently, other teams will see what we see and focus their attacks down their right hand side to exploit the lack of pace and mobility from big Dan.  At some point I can see Targett being brought in to replace him, it will be a pity because Burn is likeable and has done a great job but, seems to have been found out by all our opponents which makes it time to make a change.

Just look through the history of the league, it's replete with examples of teams doing worse the season after qualifying for Europe, or conversely doing better when they can just focus on the league.

 

Sure some teams are affected less if they can build a great and deep squad, and we might well do that in the summer, but it's no guarantee and if we still have some gaps in the squad next season and don't challenge for the top 4 again, people need to not shit the bed.

Fair points and you are right, many teams qualify for Europe and do struggle.  I feel that the way our club is now being managed and the plans our owners seem to have for us might be enough for us to buck that trend.  We seem to not just buy for the sake of it, we buy a player when he will improve us, if the target is not available or wont come we move to plan B - or - do not buy at all.  Rather buy a target than a terrible compromise.  (See Wout Weghorst for a very good example, or indeed Chris Wood just to show that we are not immune but, should have learned from that!)

Why would we struggle next season?  Even with European football, if we are able to maintain the position we are currently in this season...  We are no longer owned by Mike Ashley, we have good owners who are prepared to invest into the team and the club.  Our future is considerably brighter than it has been for many years...  

I know it is going to take a while for most of us to shake Ashley out of our systems but, he's gone, long gone in fact!!  We are a different club now.

How are the kids seasons (who are playing) going this year?

From my side - with a 17 year old who stopped playing for his Grassroots teams last season - it has been quite a mixed year with the school 6th form he now goes to.  (Park View at Chester Le Street).

My lad plays in what they would class as the second string team for the school, who somehow represent Huddesfield Town in the Northern Championship League, they played far and wide so far with pretty decent results against academies from lower league teams and other schools / organisations as far away as Chesterfield, Liverpool and Manchester.  He also started to play again on a Saturday for Chester Le Street United Reserves.  This is in a really rough and tumble Wearside league up against a mix of young talented teams and older mens sides.  Last weekend they played against a team from Gateshead that has a mix of younger players and three random blokes around 40.  It is a good experience to play against players who have clearly been very good when they were younger and now play a smarter game coupled with some naughty fouls and rough housery.  The Saturday appearances were made on the understanding that when Newcastle were at home he didn't have to play.  This season we have barely played on a Saturday and now as the last Saturday game we had scheduled has been moved to the Sunday he should be there every week.

He was told that they are watching him with a view to moving up to the Ch Le St United first team next season where he would be paid to play...  that would be nice although trying to convince him that he can watch Newcastle for the rest of his life but, only paly football at a good level for a limited time is not really resting in his brain properly...  

Anyway, would be interested to know how the other young 'uns are doing.

We were actually really lucky, for the record it was not a penalty - I watched it a couple of times and the only contact was from Jimenez on Pope.

The reason I say we were lucky was that the Linesman on that side went to flag a foul and then stopped himself.  I think if the on-field officials had given it then it might not have been overturned by VAR.

Popes touch was rotten though, it should never have been a decision to make.  I can forgive him that one considering the 2 or 3 amazing saves he made later in the game.
