I'm going to have to learn to pronounce his surname now aren't I? F**ks sake...

    Abdul-Nasir Oluwatosin Oluwadoyinsolami "Tosin" Adarabioyo

    Abdul-Nasir OH-LOO-WAH-TOE-SEEN    OH-LOO-WAH-DOH-YEEN-SHOW-LAH-MEE    AH-DAH-RAH-BEE-OH-YO

It's an easy name to pronounce, tbh

I am a fan of this boy. Like Kaka, I've been waiting for him to finally drop the England dream and play for Nigeria, where he'd likely immediately slot in as a starter at our poorest position. Good athlete and pretty good on the ball as well. He is a level below the top CBs, but definitely a firm and solid starter in the Premier League. He has room to grow even at 26; the last two years of his career have been his best. He's been improving and maybe will even increase his play at a higher level. Good signing; strong reserve and cover for the oft-injured Botman at the least.

I swear Turkey has been like that for decades mind

    What a right hand though.

Some would say it was the second best right hand delivered by a Nigerian in a Muslim-majority country this month. :)

  3. Mad scenes in Turkey between Trabzonspor and Fener. Trabzonspor supporters entered the pitch attacked the Fener players. Livakovic was punched in the face, one of the players was running from a fan attempting to hit them with the corner flag, Batshuayi kicked a supporter in the face, and Nigeria's own Bright Osayi-Samuel connected with a beautiful right hand

 This is the kind of nonsense happening in the Turkish league these days. Unbelievable that this sort of behaviour is still occurring.

Let me join the chorus of people expressing their dislike for Klopp. Genuinely unpleasant when faced with even mild adversity, his entire persona is a facade contingent on everything going his way. The Premier League has been blessed with some wonderful personalities among its greatest managers, but Jurgen is the only one I truly cannot stand. He will not be missed AT ALL.

  4. Watching replays, the clearance from Botman for the first goal is laughable. He just casually chips the ball back into the danger area under little pressure. This is the first thing you are taught to avoid as a young defender, even before playing proper matches. Conceding the corner is preferable.

  5. Napoli and Barcelona are both horrendous teams. Lewandowski and Osimhen both did very well with their only real chances to make it 1-1, but the overall quality of play is unbelievable for two sides that won major leagues last season.

Name the 3rd striker for City, Arsenal, Villa, Man U, Spurs

The point is that Wilson is too unreliable to be one of only two. If you carry a player with his injury history, a replacement is necessary

Also, these teams have wide players and attacking midfielders more suited to the striker position if needed. They have more quality in those positions overall, actually.

  7. It is simply poor planning to only carry two senior strikers in the squad and to have on of those strikers be Callum Wilson. This a team that was meant to compete on four fronts this season and play more than 50 matches. I am a fan of Wilson as a player, but he has proven that his fitness is unreliable over the course of several seasons at two clubs. The situation cannot be surprising.

Congrats Ivory Coast. Well deserved. They were the better team. Naija not good enough going forward at all.

They did not have a chance to get forward. Zaidu, Iwobi, and Aina made sure of this. They were abhorrent. The team has potential with a real coach, they will appoint a European nobody or an uncle.

    Congrats to CIV.

  9. Differing emotions in my home with myself elated and Congolese wife devastated. Hard lines for her. Losing to South Africa was just unacceptable with all of the rubbish these people were talking. I am proud of these boys anyway; the football is honestly fairly poor, but they are resolute and Osimhen especially is a warrior on the pitch. They will need those qualities against CIV on Sunday. It will be very difficult in that environment. Cannot wait for that match.

Qatar getting to a second consecutive Asian Cup final, will be favourites to win again against Jordan too (who knocked out Korea).

Asian football is bizarre, they looked so shit at the World Cup.

I've been watching some Asian Cup since AFCON has me in the mood for international ball, and the Asian Cup has been class. Shock after shock and the football is not bad at all. Teams like Jordan, Tajikistan, and even Palestine have really impressed, the game are of decent standard. No idea why these same sides are useless in WC qualifying.

  10. It is time to quietly usher Dan Burn into the Paul Dummett role that Dummett himself occupied before injuries and decline forced him to abdicate.

    Then equalises for DRC.

    Decent game.

Mbemba honestly just came to Newcastle too early. The man is captain material for club and country at this point of his career, easily one of the best defenders in Africa. I am a big fan of the guy.

I will seriously miss this AFCON when it finishes, tbh, been incredible. Even Asian Cup has been catching my interest more than club football, tbh, had been a bit jaded with it before. This is also the lowest expectation I've ever had for Nigeria and we've been very solid, tbh. DR Congo are my second team through marriage, but I am hoping they lose the semi if we win. A Naija-DRC final would cause holy war with my wife and her family.

  12. This is easily the best African Cup of Nations ever thus far, which is mad because 2021 was maybe the worst tournament in the history of football, it is a crazy turnaround.:lol:All the teams are competitive and there have been great matches with serious drama every day.

With that result, Chris Hughton and Ghana are now officially out and Nigeria-Cameroon round of 16 match is confirmed. I am already nervous.

  13. GHANA OUT!! (or very likely out) Massive collapse against Mozambique. 2-0 up in the 90th minute and thrown away. The keeper, Ofori, is an idiot. Gave away the corner that led to the final goal touching the ball when there was no need. Ghana have been knocked out by Comoros and Mozambique in the group in consecutive AFCONs.

This result also is very good for CIV chances to go through. They just need one more third place team to finish below them.

  14. Barring a miracle, Ivory Coast will crash out of their own tournament at the group stage. A massive shock. Three points only with that goal difference, it will be very difficult.

  15. Onana might have performed better in this match if he had shown up timely and acclimated himself like a normal person. The shenanigans with him staying with Man U until the literal day that AFCON started was just silliness. I think Onana is a better player than he has shown since his move to Old Trafford; that club is poisonous, it ruins careers of decent footballers. However, he has been nothing but a headache for Cameroon recently. This man left the squad during the World Cup because he could not agree with the coach and needed special accommodation for this one, all while playing rubbish. Cameroon look awful anyway, they need to beat Gambia to go through and it will not be easy.
