  1. Were they filming a new series this season? Feel like whenever they try to do something like that it backfires.

I remember when they had a 360 degree photo of the ground at a set moment in the game and it just so happened to be when the opposition scored.

I can understand the Saudi teams having to pay inflated wages to get players to go over there but the inflated transfer fees make no sense.  If a team will accept £50m, why are they steaming in with a first offer of £80m+?

    Ego.

I've never understood Spurs being one of the sly 6? They're hardly a paragon of success or a financial juggernaut, they've finished top 4 once in the last 5 years and until last night hadn't won anything in 16 years.

We've already gone past them now, probably Man Utd and Chelsea too and on par with Arsenal with just Liverpool and Man City ahead of us, I'd say Villa are right on our tails too. The Sly 6 is done, no matter how much verbal falatio Sky put into them, its over for the traditional "big" clubs.

I think the Big 6 nonsense is from these clubs sitting down and creating a voting bloc some years back. It's less 'Big' based on achievements and more about their control over the league. Case in point, even when they're shite they still get all of the loopholes.

Man City turning face after the court cases has been lovely, of course.

  4. The vast majority of baiting and wind up posts from Froggy are in response to people tagging him trying to wind him up when they lose or similar.

People can’t have it both ways by winding him up and getting nothing back. It just so happens that he’s much better at winding people up than many on here.

    Thank you!

I feel like I've been saying this forever.

If we go back into Europe without filling out the squad more, especially now there's even more games to play in Europe, I don't think it's going to go well.

As things stand we have one player coming off the bench that is consistently good, in Barnes/Gordon.

All the rest are a mish mash of inconsistency, poor play, a lack of experience or struggles with injuries.

We really had better figure out a way to stretch that budget this summer.

I think pretty much everyone has been saying this forever. I can't think of anyone on the board that doesn't think that the squad needs to be developed.

Agree that we could have done with them dropping points yesterday, but they still aren't in great form from what I've seen and they technically do have the most difficult run-in of the teams mentioned when you compare the league position and PPG that their remaining opponents have. Plus, they've still to come to St James'.

Different techniques used by these two, but similar outcomes - I suspect that unless we have a phenomenally good run-in then Forest and Man City will be difficult to overhaul.

Aye, I'm definitely going more on opinion and a quick scroll of the fixture list than anything else. I do have their great run at the end of last year's league that got them out of the mire in my mind.

  7. I’m happy with Murphy being in the 1st XI for a number of reasons, and I never thought that would be the case even a year ago. However, we need depth desperately.

My mind shift has moved from an out and out replacement, but it’s definitely a prime spot for a big upgrade. I want Murphy to still be involved heavily on current form and attitude. He offers so much on and off the pitch.

  8. I think that we arguably have the tougher fixtures remaining out of us, Chelsea, Forest and City.

It’s all opinion, but it’ll certainly be close. 3rd-5th is between us 4 teams currently and 3rd already has a pretty good buffer. Chelsea would be the most likely to slip away out of those 3. Could have done with them losing yesterday to be honest.

Just to clarify; I don't have any issue with Yasir celebrating on the pitch or lifting the trophy  I enjoyed watching him do it, he's earned it more than most other football club owners.

Aye, just realised I quoted the wrong thing. 😂

I was referencing the Man City ownership. But luckily it still works with Yasir.

The article didn't have a go at fans at all, it only had a go at Yasir joining celebrations on the pitch.

His family, particularly his children, travel to matches regularly. They were always out of school for that reason.

  11. If they built a 65,000 seater stadium and the pumped a load of money into Leazes Park to make it a large usable and clean parkland area whilst also giving room and a clear roadmap for expansion… I’d be more than happy with that.

They literally don't have laws, Rod.  There is no Rule of Law in KSA.

They do have laws, but it isn’t a written constitution. Sharia law isn’t interpretation to the degree that you state and to be honest you are misrepresenting the country somewhat.

Yes, witches wizards and witchcraft (along with music) is considered haram. I have also performed in the pit band for Phantom of the Opera in KSA and in the orchestra for Bocelli when he performed there. Shrek the Musical was also performed there recently. You’re using the ‘it’s legal to kill a man with an arrow in York’ argument and ignoring reality.

It isn’t a dictatorship, it is an absolute monarchy. You may not agree with either of these as a ruling structure but there is a difference.

For the record I don’t agree with many of the rules there but it is tiresome to hear people spout stuff about KSA and the Middle East with very little or no first hand knowledge.

I met the top guy from Haas UK last year and he was such an inspirational guy, obviously very rich and he works in Uni's in his spare time with the designer graduates.

His train of thought is to, think big, think like money or infrastructure or Physics is no object, what would you build............and work back from there

So basically act like the Mrs during IKEA trips.

  14. Controversial, but I don't begrudge Maddison not signing for us.

At that time Spurs were probably in a stronger position overall, were more established and probably seemed like a more secure route to CL and regular England appearances. There's also the pull of London which may or may not be a factor.

The same situation happens this summer transfer window and I think there's a different outcome. We're putting more players into the England camp, have shown consistent top finishes, two cup finals in three seasons and a desire to improve our players through coaching and mentoring.

Two seasons ago, there were still question marks as we were early on in the project. But having said all of that, I think we're well past a player like Maddison now.
