  1. Our manager at Swansea (Martinez) insists that all players sign a 'performance related' contract. God knows what that means, but I presume it means if we went down so would their wages.

I can't believe its not a norm in any case, to have a contract based on what division you are in, no matter which division you are currently playing. Its a main reasn for the financial problems of relegated clubs.

If our lot had to sign performance related contracts 2-3 of them wouldn't have been paid in 2 years.

we would make a profit on owens injury from the FIFA then!!  ;D

  2.

Was watching the lad play today. He must be the most underrated player in the history of the premiership. Has had a long and brilliant career, won everything there is to win, and played some wonderful stuff too. Good old fashioned professional, and a credit to him for leading by example.

Quite simply fantastic at reading the game, and a highly intelligent footballer. No wonder Fergsuon has held on to him for so long.

    scholes as well

  3. As poor as Butt is he must be picked before Smith every time. Its an absolute total myth that Smith can play in midfield and he's never ever backed up the myth that he can. He might run around a lot kicking people but he's got absolutely no discipline, and he would be a disaster in that position imo. Butt hasn't really got the legs anymore, and he gives away the ball too much, but he's a lot safer bet than Smith. He's positionally aware and he's got a cool head on him. Smith is bloody rash to be kind. The way Smith plays fools a lot of people.

the cool head that gave away 6 penaltys so far this campaign?

christ, even smith wont give away so many!

though he will get 1 red card more than butt.. oh no...

  4. One of the richest clubs in the world and couldnt even afford a couple of ball boys, the players were climbing into the stands over the seats to get the ball.  Nile wasnt having any of that though.

Looked really hungry Nile, chasing the ball down and winning the headers, he looks like he can become a player, and he smiled in my direction! Missed 3 good chances though, 2 of them were absolute sitters.

Thought Donaldson looked really assured playing in front of the back four, allways wanting the ball and keeping the game moving. Mcrudden looked like a canny player but needs a bit more weight on him, missed a decent chance after brilliant build up play from Nile. Inman looked decent, Ferguson was all pace, no product tonight. The ginger fella Newton was gash.

Our defence looked pretty dodgy like, must filter through from the first team.

    :hom:

  5. I just couldn't see the likes of N'Zogbia, Owen, and any bigger players respecting him, its sad but true. It would be a matter of time before someone in the squad called him "A Journeyman fizzy pop player".

If its all we can attract then so be it, but a play at Van Gaal may work.

and Owen and Nzogbia where your best examples?

Mr. I dont want to sign the bloody contract because im "considering" my options! (bastard)

or Mr. I have been here to long, please send me to Wolverhampton so i can develop as a player?

Nzogbia who have been whining for several years...

Owen who should have signed that bloody contract ages ago? (with a wagecut!)

i dont think any model pro football player would call their manager a fizzy pop player, however that would be quite funny....

but as Ketsebaia nicely put it...

I'd want them for different reasons, really. Martinez and Shearer are exciting because of their age and potential as managers, whereas houllier and van gaal are immensely experienced. it depends what you want in a manager really, and also what state the club will be in come summertime. basically, as long as its not JFK haha

    :kinnear:  :idiot2:

  6. well, i would take anything at the moment...

Allerdyce got us playing defensively sound football (really boring but not great in any way)

Keegan got us playing some sort of attacking football (a little exciting but not great in any way)

Mr  :kinnear: got us playing backgammon...

so yes, i would take him :)

and yes, we probably we wouldnt get any high profile proven ones anyway (high profile yes, proven... no), so young hungry, known for aggressive football... sounds like a deal for me! :D (im getting desperate)

  7. Given - Superb, Hope he stays but wont blame him if he leaves.

Harper - Best English keeper. will take charge if Given goes

Krul    - Can be on the bench

Forster - Can be on the bench

Beye - Solid. but is starting to become injury prone?

Bassong - Been a great buy, only had about one error since he started playing

Taylor - wish he took charge at RB now beye is gone, he have had a couple of good games there...

Coloccini - Good enough for the league, can be a great player for us

Enrique -  Good both ways, but as said, makes to many silly errors.

Edgar - dont think he will ever be ready for EPL, but better with him than cacapa

Cacapa - past it, shown that in the last matches he came in, however looks like a good profile to have at the club (but not a keeper, no)

Duff - proven fuck all with a decent, good and crap manager... not worth having here

N'Zogbia - want to leave? FUCK OFF THEN!

Guthrie - already a great player for us, if he is complemented with a good midfielder...

Butt - Too old, slow, dumb etc etc etc etc

Gutierrez - Its a shame, in any of the top 5 teams, he would be a monster, here i is a battling winger (much like milner isnt he?)

Barton - good fotball player that we need, who cares about the rest? ;)

Geremi - done, finished, over the top... impact player for the rest of the season.. then get rid

Smith - good that he is back, he might acually be useful! who knows! maybe hes foot where broken back, so now he can score goals again???

Viduka - Finished... ill leave it at that

Martins - if we loose martins.. in any way.. we are royally fucked

Owen - good if he stays, good if he goes... i wouldnt mind another striker... any striker actually (oh well. not ameobi, hes just frustrating)

acually i wont be so unhappy if he leaves. becouse then we have to change our playing style.. wich can only be for the better...

Carroll - Potential to be something.. he gets his headers on target as well. plays with his heart.. been missing that for some while

Ameobi - confidence player.. plays with his heart left in the locker room... 3 years? FUCK OFF

Xisco - could step up? who knows, havent played! hope his injury is over now (who am i kidding? we are nufc!)

Kinnear - be afraid.. be very afraid...

  8. http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/nufc/newcastle-united-news/2008/10/31/jonas-gutierrez-will-be-toon-star-of-the-season-72703-22156698/

"Meanwhile, reports in Norway suggest that teenage Jacob Falch Meidell has been invited for a trial at Newcastle at some stage during the winter.

The defender or midfielder is captain for the Northern Norwegian side, Mo IL and the 18-year-old was appointed skipper last term."

Fun thing is I got an interview with this lad for my local newspaper on Friday, gonna ask him a canny few Newcastle related questions to see if there was/is any truth in it or not, or if Mr. Ryder has made it up. :pow:

played against him two years ago...

  9. He's speaking about the offer having to be right.  If he's implying he wouldn't be happy with a 6 month extension (his words), then it seems to suggest he wouldn't take a 1 year deal (which personally, I thought he might, as it still gives him the freedom to walk away sooner rather than later).

I'm thinking if we offer him something like another 2 years, probably with a high salary, he'll take it.  However if we ask him to commit for another 3-4 years I think he'll tell us to get f***ed.

I think he'll be wanting a long-term deal, if possible. A 2 year deal takes him to 31 when he's free to sign for another club and he won't get 100k/week from anyone at that age and for any length of time. Sign a 4 year deal now and he's done with the club at 33 after collecting 100k/week for 8 years. Pretty sweet deal if money's a priority for him.

There's still a good chance that he'll stay. I think he knows that no other club are as desperate (?) as we are and none are also willing to accommodate him to the extent that we are (the chopper, for example). He's captain here. He's wanted, needed even. He's guaranteed a first-team place, lots of money and the club has potential if we can sort out this mess.

Villa play a different style, Everton can't pay his wages, Spurs play one up front and have got two expensive strikers and City seem to have set their sights on a different tier of talent. I just don't know where else he'd go because the top 4 are even less likely to sign him.

He's smart so he'll consider what other clubs have to offer and I expect that he won't sign a contract with anyone soon.

We at Everton offer an alternate resource to money - pies.

viduka would be perfect for you then ;D
