  1. Club’s aim is top six and to go deep in all domestic cups but with no European distractions its maybe a season you target a UCL place.

The one thing I’d like to see us improve on is the big away game mentality and improving our records at Anfield, Old Trafford, Emirates, Etihad and Stamford Bridge. Zero point return this season and only three point return the season prior from 15. Makes all the difference at the top when the points swing the other way.

My confidence in him has not diminished by even 1% after this season.

Obviously I'd have loved Europe, but at the start of the season I thought last year was an over-achievement given what he had at his disposal, and if we made 6th this year then considering that and the extra games, we'd have had just as good a campaign as last year.

Sure nobody is perfect - I was as infuriated as anyone seeing Burn at DL week after week, and persisting with Dubravka after Pope returned has likely been costly. We all have our flaws.

However we came within a whisker of the 6th place I'd have said was as good as last year's 4th and also finished above Man U for the first time in my life, got the 2 cup quarter finals, smashed PSG to give me one of the best nights I can remember, put the mackems back in their box on their own ground, scored more goals than we ever have before and did all that whilst coping with the worst injury crisis any club has had since Man U in 1958.

There is nobody I'd rather have manage this club next season than Eddie Howe.

    This 100%

  3. Will be interesting to see what the Man Utd hierarchy do next. Personally think ETH has done a very good job under the circumstances (signings aside which most seemed massively flawed in their logic and price) as the club has been a bit of a circus.

If he can blend their youth teams (apparently doing very well) and the quartet of starlets in the current first team with a smattering of his better more experienced players I think he’s the right guy to stick with as clearly no mug.

Man Utd’s only problem is their impatience. They’ve always been better than they get credit for. Same as Chelsea. Just because you dislike a club it should never cloud your judgement over their teams ability. It’s going to be another hell of a battle for those top six spaces next season.

Linked with Ipswich. Which makes sense seeing as he's from Soham and started out with Ipswich youth.

Maybe Everton and Pickford to Chelsea.

  5. First time I’ve seen Leverkusen play all season and have to say I was very disappointed in them whereas Atlanta have looked very accomplished the two times I’ve seen  them play.

Was it just full credit to Atlanta when judging Leverkusen’s performance? For a team unbeaten in 50 games or whatever I wasn’t expecting to see such a nervy back line. a disjointed midfield and a very toothless frontline. Was it just Cup Final nerves which we always seem to suffer? Or a bit too much hype attached to them?

“Context: Pundit Danny Murphy’s comments earlier in the season on Bruno Guimarães: "That (not being a good athlete) is what will stop him from being one of the best because everything else in his game is superb. He is a great passer, technically gifted, but he’s not a great athlete. He needs real athletes around him to shine.”

    Bruno’s response:

What Danny Murphy said was bang on the money still.

Keep an eye on Rabiot. He’ll be talking to a number of clubs including us over the next few weeks. Another free although an expensive one.

Last thing we need is him and his mother hanging around us.

How would it even work ? Just not use it unless a manager wanted to challenge?

I’d imagine so. If the challenge proves correct you keep the challenge for next incident. If proven false then the manager loses one of their challenges.

  9. Didn’t like his KK meltdown comment last night. Very disrespectful and also fuel to an already fake narrative.

  10. Was surprised by the pre-match optimism. We’ve won only once in the league since the early 70’s.

Didnt take some big chances and its annoying they didn’t have to work very hard to create their goals.

Biggest disappointment is that we didn’t need to win the game. Just not lose it. We’ve definitely lost that side of our game away from home this season. 11 away defeats is… 3rd worst in the league? Can’t believe we had a very outside chance of finishing 5th!

There's absolutely nothing wrong with VAR, the technology works fine. The problem is how it's used, combined with the even bigger issue of interpretation of over-complicated rules by the officials.

Which you’ll never be able to change or improve to a degree that it’s worth taking the joy from football. So why keep it. Just get TV companies to scrutinise player performances rather than every single decision when most are subjective.

Spot on if Newcastle benefits from Saudi investment like Manchester has from Abhu Dhabi fucking brilliant.

This is the part of the takeover that fully justifies govt intervention to push it through, it’s taken a while to gather pace but if the Tyne gets investment for offshore and the universities as well, it’ll  be tremendous for the whole of Tyneside and wider region.

It’s also the part of the takeover that is mostly forgotten. These guys are going to transform the North East and use it as a hub. Probably get involved with the wind power stuff etc. Reuben’s assisting with their already large property portfolio in the area.

As funny as it is to see Arsenal finish 2nd its still kinda annoying to see yet another soulless City title win. England quickly becoming just like Germany and France with the same team cleaning up year after year with the odd anomaly here and there.

Yep but just imagine the PL lawyers squirming further as 115 charges still not resolved.

As a fanbase I’ve nothing against Man City personally.
