  1. but what are the highlights over the lifetime of the average Sunderland fan?  Obviously the home defeat to Chelsea on the 24th of May 2009 is probably number one for anyone born since the 80s (with the safc.com match report saying the scenes of Sunderland fans "On cloud nine" after the match were as jubilant as any ever witnessed in the stadium) but what are the others and do any of them not involve the mags?

Well, according to their own media, gordon saving from zat knight, equalising against us and gyan dancing were other highs from this season at least.

Btw, over on rtg, they're on about gervinho refusing a new offer and reckon gyan should have a word with him. Wey aye like, both african, must knaa each other well like...

  2. Bristol city Jan 81(?).. in the cup. Sat in the east stand. Sure it was the day the old electronic scoreboard made its debut, just before kick off it flashed up "HOPE YOU ENJOYED THE GAME, HAVE A SAFE JOURNEY HOME" or words to that effect. Think we drew 1-1. That's the first i remember, me mam said my first game was an anglo/scot cup tie at tynecastle, early seventies.

  3. Can't see myself ever absolving AC for any blame in this but when the main players in the piece are a filthy rich chancer adept at manipulating businessmen, colleagues, customers and the media versus a young footballer with no more than average intellect, adept at manipulating centre halves and the odd boiler, well...

I'd love to see us push on from this, but that's optimism over fact. When have our board ever got infront of a camera and assured us we've got something to look forward to? What do we get? A sheet of headed paper handed to David fucking Craig and a big fuck off to our support. Many claim MA doesn't take money out of the club, fine, but that doesn't validate what he's done to it either.

Gotta hand it to sky too, drama like last night doesn't come off that well without a shitload of rehearsal, hmmm.

  4. All of the above, so i'll not cover old ground. One that sky still show now that makes me want to boot the telly over is MO rubbing his hands after strolling thru our inept defence under Gullit. Might have forgiven him if he'd shown that amount of effort for us, vile little prick.

Think that was the game before Gullit actually took charge.

Fulham 4-1 (Souness) and Sheff Utd 1-0 (Roeder) both at home were pretty depressing worrying times.

Aye, sorry. Orthapaedic shoes here.

  5. Simon Bird reckons Torres just left Melwood in a helicopter

    Which one's Simon Bird?

Played against him when he was at Crammy jnrs at u14 level. Fucker was 6'5" then, couldn't kick snow off a rope and soft as clarts. Didn't seem to know owt about the game then, as now.

  6.

Intersting post. Particularly when it's on page ONE HUNDRED AND EIGHTY NINE of a thread entitled "Sunderland".

    Oh the irony.

Fair enough, how many other mackem threads you found on here though?

  7. A trio of the brum clubs would be hilarious, villa being the obvious cherry on top. Think there's a case for other clubs pulling clear, such as  signings at WHU and Blackburn, dunno about fulham like. I wouldn't be too quick to compare blackpool to hull, even if i'm only basing that on my opinion of Holloway over that lovely, humble and naturally tanned fella from the South Tyneside area. >:D

  8. Does anybody know a good place to watch that game in Amsterdam, as I will be there over the weekend?!?

Coco's outback, rembrandtplein. Big Heieken in a frosty glass, loads of screens, darts, pool, smoking area, also Satellite sports bar at Leidseplein. Would give the Newcastle pub a miss, fair play for the association, but it's a dump. Have a good 'un, lucky lucky f***er, oh, and try Burger bar (Kolksteeg), you won't regret it.

    As for the game, 4-0.

First post by the way, so hello to all. :) Been away from newcastle for 6 years now, a proud wearer of the B&W surrounded by Manyoo, Arse and Celtic shirts at every turn. Glad to join up, great forum.
