  1. Seems reductive to say "like Sissoko" but in the glimpses I've seen of him I think that's fair. I think he'll play through the centre much like Rafa asked of Sissoko and he'll offer drive from a one paced midfield at the moment. Looks to have about as much control as Moussa mind. Really decent, even if I'd prefer signing someone who could unpick a defence rather than hope to charge through it.

  2. I do find it quite amusing seeing the fees thrown about for forwards that we've clearly pursued over the years and for what ever reason (probably not paying enough) didn't get them. Off the top of my head there is Gamiero who has went for €35M, Lyon are turning down €40M for Lacazette, god knows how much Aubameyang will eventually be sold for.

Wonder when we'll see Mevlut Erdinc transferred to Man City for €60M.

  3. Pogba will be the biggest flop ever at that price  :frantic:Man u have been raped twice maybe even three times over

    What makes you say that?

I'd rather get Ronaldo back for that amount at least you can guarantee goals and the hunger to win trophys can't say I've seen this from pogba , Even bale would be a better fit

Ronaldo is what, 31? not a great buy and not available anyway. I think it's way to much but in the current "economic climate" of the Premier League Pogba costs Man U less than Veron did (Giggs Stats, I'm sure). I'm in the camp of two 50M players would be better for the team but that's not what they are looking for I guess. It's a lot of money but then again they have a lot of money to spend.

People are up in arms about it but next year someone else will move and we'll all be here again going "Footballs gone mad!". It's been crazy for along time now.

  4. Nothing but a shame really. Very talented but very lacking. In another team he may have been fantastic and I expect him to do reasonably well but I won't miss him as he just wasn't good for us. Where the majority of that blame lies is personal opinion really.

Strange signing for Liverpool mind. Best in a higher central role and that can be said of Firmino, Lallana and Coutinho. Interesting to see where he fits.

  5. Hes just certain to stay when most others aren't. The club probably want to avoid having their marketing screwed over when a player in the buggers off.

Didn't that happen to Villa last year with Delph? Front and centre next to #Loyalty or something?

  6. I like them both as well but they are largely unproven, however much potential we may think they have. The future of the club is more important than the future of the players.

You need balance, but it should not be to the detriment to the club. Obviously Jose style obliteration of youth is not what I want to see, but I also don't want to persist with players who are struggling when we hoped they'd be better in the name of development. We've done that for the last 2 or 3 seasons. I get why people worry about Armstrong getting a chance for example but if he's good enough he will. We shouldn't be upset that he has to be better to get that chance.

  7. It's been said before, but we need depth and experience. You can't turn your nose up at the club when that's exactly what they are pursuing. If Hanley comes and plays every game at the expense of Mbemba or Lascelles it's because Rafa thinks he can do the job better and fine by me.

Problem areas are being addressed. You can't be of the mindset that we shouldn't sign someone to protect the position of someone else. We need competition and the best players should play. I'd love to see Aarons be a big deal this year but I still want another winger who is just as good, if not better. Can't have too many good players.

  8. Looks to be 6'1 and change. Might be that Rafa's looked at our tiny midfield and he's trying to address it. Were quite a short team and that could be exploited in the Championship.

Unexciting but when you have to do a full refresh of a squad full of shit you need decent players to make numbers. A few years ago we were signing Amalfitano so in comparison how bad can this be?

  9. I get that him coming means Townsend out and that's disappointing but Ritchie and Gayle are night and day from the shite we bought last time we went down. Gives me some hope that we might just put together a team. Still need a lot more added mind.

  10. They're absolutely foaming that we've took relegation on the chin, even embraced it and are shifting season tickets at a ridiculous rate. We've sneered at their boring wind up attempts and have one of the world's greatest managers to lead us back to the top. It wasn't supposed to be like this.

It's just the standard nonsense you get from a certain type of person, mackems or otherwise.

If we sell lots of tickets and appear optimistic were deluded and arrogant. If we were besides ourselves and there were mass walk outs we'd all be called plastics, " there was football before 1992 marra" etc. Whatever fits their argument best.
