Not sure if I'm alone on this one, but I never like players who are under contract talking about moving to bigger clubs etc. First of all because, well, nee shite Sherlock, but also - if they're interested they'll bid anyway.
Brentford are such a well-run and canny club, don't like seeing this type of patter from one of their players. It puts me off more than anything.
Is it not called ambition?

"He has a £100 million release clause which will be effective from June, but AS reports that the Brazilian could be signed at a reduced price, around £68m."
QuoteNewcastle are in “crisis” at the moment after missing out on European football last season. The Magpies need a “big sale” to solve their financial problems, and Guimaraes could be sacrificed. Alexander Isak is also attracting interest from other heavyweight clubs.

why do refs get a medal?

Yep, pretty much this. The only thing I will say in his favour is that as soon as he realised he was surplus he decided to try and find another club so he could at least keep playing at a lower level. He could have just put his feet up, taken the money and done fuck all but at least he still wants to play. Still a shit signing overall but I don't hate the bloke or anything
Fair comment. I will be surprised though if the club didn't pay a fair chunk of his salary when on loan. Was the type of signed that just summed up the Ashley era.

He was a total professional - whilst he didn't play a lot I feel he definitely gave a lot off it.
-
Still only 32 - I wonder where he'll go next

The hypocrisy of some of these journalists is unreal - when Newcastle were bought this very station was questioning the owners. When said owners phone up to invite them to a boxing match - they are all to willing to accept.

Surely if the clubs took UEFA/PL to court these rules would get thrown out? Football is a business like any other and these rules are blatantly bias to the already established clubs, they are also totally anti-competitive. It is ridiculous when a club like Man U who are hundreds of millions in debt are allowed to spent more than Newcastle who are totally debt free. It is farcical.

It was very strongly insinuated. That only for "special" clubs, like players dream club. They are named in clause
Really? How would anyone know that

How corrupt are these rules...
QuoteUefa’s coefficient payments are based on a club’s past ten years of results in European competitions. For the 2023-24 season, for example, Manchester City received £28million while Newcastle United were given only £3.8million.

Spurs' finances are what make them a 'Big Six' club. They've got the highest turnover of any London club. Not to be sniffed at. Their turnover is roughly double ours
How is it so high though? I wouldn't say Spurs are following globally - Stadium must be bring in a far chunk

Eddie Howe type of signing written all over it

The only two that have really showed promise are Fofana and Colwill and both have been injured a lot. The rest of them have looked very unconvincing for the prices that Chelsea paid even though they were apparently highly regarded before they were bought.
I think that is fair but a new manager will be coming in and they are all young/high potential so can't see them writing them off already

How many CB do Chelsea need?? I know they have lost Silva but they already have more than they can actually play
Badiashile
Disasi
Chalobah
Colwill
Fofana
Gilchrist
Sarr

He'd be about 6th choice and out on loan to buy in 2 seasons. Manure I can almost understand.
We will see what the lad is made of - does he want to play or will he follow the money.

No disrespect to Brentford but you can't hold it against a player wanting to play for a more established club. Hasn't Bruno just done that albeit not verbally by putting in a release clause into his contract? He has clearly opened to door to the likes of Man City/Real Madrid. And if they came in I couldn't blame him for wanting to go. We are just not at that level yet, much like Brentford aren't at ours.
