  1. It can't be easy getting players in the current climate. Clubs are asking £50 mil for rank average players, Stones at Man City is a classic example.  We need at least 4 or 5 players and even with a £100 mil it gets you not a lot better than what we already have.  Rafa will not blow money for the sake of it, he will find what he wants at a price he's happy with or he won't buy and that is the right thing to do

I doubt Rafa caree much about how much players cost, just that he can strengthen the squad within the budget he's been given (and was reportedly happy with). It does seem though that he's having to fight others in positions of power over player valuations and ability.

we don't know though do we? Rafa was proved wrong over Townsend, the board said no and got it right, plenty of time in truth and the price tag doesn't always mean success , no panic as yet from me , either way i'm looking forward being back in the big time  O0

  2. 14/1 for relegation at this moment in time seems a cracking price.

It's pre-season, they have no manager, lost half their squad, the other half are either s*** or probably want out. I might have some black and white tinted specs on but they'll surely be closer to the drop than play offs?

They are in a bit of a state, preparation has been terrible so far BUT I really can't see them being relegated.

As much as we take the mick they are a big club in The Championship and when they finally get moving they will be able to sign/loan decent enough players that will ensure they are not flirting with relegation.

i agree, i dont see them going down at all, but i don't see them going up either, they need to start again but fuck me they are in trouble.

    no money

    no manager

    no players

    no owners (sort of)

    no paying fans

    no us

what a miserable time to be a Mackem, think back this time last year when the cunts were lording it over us

  3. I wonder what Ashley makes of working with Rafa. He's used to being surrounded by submissive nobody's kissing his bottom in appreciation of the fact they got a job they're completely unqualified for, and that he can push around at will. Rafa obviously doesn't fit that profile and presents a treath to the way he likes to operate. Wouldn't surprise me at all if he privately thought is more hassle than he's worth, especially now it's job done and we're back on the gravy train. Guess we'll find out this summer if anything has changed or not, because I doubt Rafa will put up with going into the season with a squad destined for relegation.

MA isn't working with him though is he?

it's that fucking tool Charnley, the non football man tasked with getting them over the line, good god.

i'd have the average Stone in my team like

  5. Burnley, Chelsea, Southampton, Swansea, WBA, Spurs, Palace: zero signings to date.

Bournemouth, Arsenal, Huddersfield, Man U, NUFC, Stoke, West Ham: 1 signing to date.

Leicester, Liverpool, Man City, Watford: 2 signings.

    BHA, Everton: 3 signings.

Can anybody see anything unusual in our transfer activity to date, this Summer?

    (Premier League.com)

we are new, we need quite a few players, we need to get a shove on, the ones above are established with PL squads already

  6. The fact we haven't added to the squad yet isn't really the issue in play, even with all the money in the bank due to Rafa losing his best players last summer. It's the fact that once again, for the second time in a couple of months in fact, our manager - the best we can ever hope to attract - is having to go through the press to drive home the importance of the club matching his ambitions. It's absolutely fucking pathetic.

welcome to the big league, fees are huge and FMA is pissing himself Rafa senses this and we are risking it all

£30 million gets you decent at best, £10 million gets rank average it seems, we keep hunting for the bargain buys all the time

  7. Thought I would 'classify' and colour code Sunderland's fixtures (Aug & Sep) according to finishing position last year of the opposition: treating the top eight (including two relegated sides) as RED (least likely to beat), next eight as AMBER, and remaining seven (including promoted sides) as GREEN. Opposition sides moves up or down a category depending if home or away, i.e. if playing a RED team at home it becomes an AMBER fixture; and a GREEN team away becomes an AMBER fixture.

Whilst a bit random, it should give, based on last year's form/squads, a sense of how well they should be doing at the end if Sept given the relative difficulty of the start. So:

    Derby H

    Norwich A

    Sheffield Wed A

    Leeds H

    BarnsleyA

    Sheffield Utd H

    Nottingham Forest H

    Hull A

    Cardiff H

    Ipswich A

    Preston A

Presuming on average the points total for an average Championship side would see three points for Green games, 1 point for Amber and 0 for Red. 12 points by end of Sept would signal mid-table mediocrity. Less = trouble ahead. More = on course for top half.

There are 5 out of 16 Red games, 3 of 15 Amber, and 3 of 15 Green games. So relatively speaking more difficult first 11 eleven games.

      imagine if i had done this

  8. He's going to be a really, really good player but at this moment in time he isn't better than Gayle and we'd only have him for one season anyway. No great loss.

if he's going to be that good as you so wisely say, why not buy him then?  flash in the pan , we dodged a bullet  :D

  9. Swansea is far from a shit hole like, it's a really nice place, visited about 6 times, and moving there in a few months.

oh really?  have a wander round Mayhill, Winch Wen............drug capital of Wales, its a fucking tip, The Mumbles is nice but no better than Whitley Bay.

i lived there, i know
