  1. I can't find Shintonghost's original post to quote, but he made the remark that we are crazy to expect mid table from our team. Simple question, had Rafa been in charge the season we went down with that squad would he'd have had the same results as McClaren or would we have been mid table or thereabouts ? The correct answer is not the first option there. It was not the squad that necessarily got us relegated that season it was the total ineptitude of the manager, I still maintain it was a squad more than capable of staying in the top flight. We've lost an aging Colo and Taylor from the back, Janmaat, Gini, Sissoko, Townsend (for half a season) and a well past his sell by date Cisse. We've arguably replaced them with better players, I would certainly take Clark and Lascelles ahead of those two in centre defence, hell our best CB that year couldn't get a game this season because of them. Janmaat and Yedlin are pretty even in my book, Townsend and Ritchie too, Diame is nowhere near Gini or Sissoko, however Gayle is a light year ahead of the Cisse of cica 2015. Hayden of today versus Tiote then, it's not close in my mind.

People keep saying how we are not good enough, a huge amount of work needs to be done and how we'll need to spend 70 - 100 million just to stay up. That's all bollocks. I still think Rafa will change the squad considerably and spend close to that 100 million figure but that's because he's not happy just to settle for survival or even a low mid table spot. He'll be looking top 10 for sure and if you look past the top 6 teams in the PL along with Everton, there is really nothing there to scare anyone, you could basically put a blanket over all the teams from 8th down.

Anyway completely nothing to do with this thread but whatever. Oh and by the way I'm supposed to be the pessimistic bastard on here :)

    it's all a game of opinions  O0

  2. I'm sure Huddersfield's staff and fans couldn't give a flying fuck what their form is like

They did well over the course of the season and earnt it. They only dropped from 3rd because they were rotating and resting players.

Lets not all sit here like we're the kings of the world, this tinpot rugby club were a Derby equaliser away from putting us under huge amounts of pressure.

ive detected a lot of arrogance on here recently, i agree 100 % with this post, the table tells a story of it being easy in the end, it was far from it and if that Derby equaliser had not went in it could have been so different.....some say we will easily be mid table though  O0

  3.

On reflection no one can predict a thing.

No one signed up, so no idea what team we will have , making it impossible, so i will shut me gob till then end of July

  4. I cannot see us finishing lower than 12th if Benitez is here. We'll likely fall short of Everton, and obviously the 'top 6' but the rest of the league is incredible average, if we get over 50 points we'll probably be on course for 8-9th.

  5. My obsession with the club has come back with a bang since he took over.

I can't stress how cynical I'd become with year on year of utter shite and shite peddlers associated with the club. It was like a bad relationship that was soon to end.

This is like Keegan except less on emotion and more on reason.

Benitez didn't stay at this club to manage a mid table side. He means business.

Bang on. I'm under no illusions about us winning anything or challenging any time soon, but the simple fact is that we COULD do those things. They are possible again, for the first time in absolutely ages. Feels like the club is going in the right direction.

    It's fucking great.

   .

It's so comforting knowing that Rafa's got this.

I've got no expectations in terms of where we'll finish or whatever but just the fact that we'll be ran by a qualifed, experienced, genuine football man is fantastic.

    In Rafa we trust.

Spot on. We could finish14th next season and I'd be okay with, simply because I know that Rafa will be looking to build year on year. If he's here in two years time we will be pushing top six I reckon.

Here we go again, bit of a reality check please.

If we finish 14th i'd be fucking bouncing.why? because unless we spend zillions we are gonna have to have a huge slice of luck to survive.Relegation has knocked us back 2-3 years and you need to understand this will be a season where we could start and are highly likely to have 2-3 points after 6 games and then what panic?

In truth the very highest i am aiming for is 17th, Rafa is not a magician however i admit he has done his job so far and the "feel" is great but please reign it in about where we are heading, we were not brilliant last season so it i fear Rafa will want to grind out results next season and we will be taken apart at times, survive and then aim for 14th the next season........you build a team, have some patience man  O0

Our very best aim next season is 17th, reality.

Pretty sure you were one of those who were moaning for most of the season that we were going to blow it and not get promoted. Maybe you need the reality check. Give yourself a pinch - you're not dreaming it really happened!

top six         yep we nearly blew it at one point, however we didn't hats off, that's behind us, so lets storm the league, you's are all right, top half should be easy for us and then lets get europe back, should be a cake walk for us.  O0    our aim should always be top 6

  6. That obsessed with the mackems he can't see any higher than 17th in the Premier League.

fuck off man, its got fuck all to do with Sunlun you tool. our current squad would finish in the bottom 3 despite Rafa, the quality is not there, we could spend 70 million and even with Rafa could still struggle...seriously you need a head shake if you think we will not struggle next season, survival is the key and 17th gets me that, fuckers on here think we will finish mid table  and then Europe

nah ya right, we will easy get mid table next season, i'd expect Rafa to build and get us top ten and then in 2 years have us top 6, easy peasy  O0

  7. You don't aim for 17th like. You aim for that and you likely finish bottom. That's before getting into just how lacking in ambition that is. It's not Rafa's way either.

My expectation is to stay in the league, my ambition is mid-table. Nothing at all deluded etc about that.

It's my aim , not Rafas or the club if you read my post back, stay in the league, survive and then build, that's why i'd settle for 17th .I'm making the point that we could still struggle, maybe i'm forever the pessimist , i wonder why

  9. Just seen the thread... Sima and another 'mag on a safc forum' seem to be debating with a poster who has mild learning difficulties, and a handful of regular common or garden Mackems f*ckwits whose red n white blinkers were soldered on at birth. Really don't know why they waste their time.

i find it a bit weird tbh, let the f***ers fester man.

You posted on there for years didnt you?

never ever been on, nor would i, i'd be banned within hours

  11. Amusing to read them squeezing positivity around appointing Derek McInnes.

appoint who they like, they are second raters now, a championship turd with a half empty, crisp packet ridden shit hole stadium full off soooper kev wannabees.

fuck them, fuck the mackems

  12. 130k and a 3 year deal for Defoe is absolutely mental. Don't think I'd be wanting to give him anymore than a 1 year deal...

Must be doubling his money at least too.

    was on 80k at sunlun

  13.

Not happy with yesterday at all, Dr Doom was a perfect fit, however fuck them, they are still in a shite situation that will take some getting out of.still think they will struggle.
