Still calling bullshit on this link until some others stand it up.
So far we have the telegraph and other than that journalists talking about "reports", which just refers to the telegraph anyway.
Nowt from Edwards, Hope, Downie or any other journalist to confirm these reports to be true.
Done by Tuesday I have heard

Can’t get my head around buying Gordon for £40m, potentially selling ASM then to bringing in Harvey Barnes. Seems like a backwards step.
Give ASM another season as Gordon as understudy. We have Joelinton that’s arguably been better than both of them in that LW position too then use the money on someone top quality to play RW.
So if that does happen and not saying it will are we questioning the first manager to get us back into the Champions Leagues decisions? Just wondered if we have already started going back to how we were?

I fully agree with this, his ceiling is incredibly high. I don't think we'll sign him though.
Not with that attitude we won’t ?

I know he's not an obvious need, but would love Thuram
I think he is one of those players they would go for if he became available even if it isn’t a position that’s massively important. For me I think he was a possible next year player on our list. But as we have seen with Isak if it’s there to be done they will do it.

Could well be a smokescreen ?

Can't spread the deal for more than 5 years now, so £60m would be £12m a year for the 5 years. Iirc.
True

Also if it wasn’t for FFP we could basically spend what the hell we like so paying more money upfront wouldn’t be a issue and I don’t see if as being a issue now unless it then causes issues where the amortisation takes you over the FFP limits.

I can see Leverkusen asking for a similar fee if not higher fee than what we paid Milan for Tonali, so I don't think what we'd get for ASM would cover the fee for Diaby. It's part of the reason why I don't want ASM sold, we won't replace him with anyone better for the fee we'd get.
That’s not how FFP works man if it was then there is no point putting Chelsea’s new players in 8 year contracts. Say we sold Maxi for £40 million and there was still £5milluon left of his amortisation then we would immediately get £40 million on the balance sheet minus that years £5 million amortisation. When then buy a player for £60 million on a 6 year contract so £10million that year on FFP plus whatever that years wages is.

Paul Dummett was just given a contract extension.
That’s due to needing so many homegrown players in the squad for the champions League

I mean with amortisation you can do anything, why stop at 3 when we can sign 20.
Your just being a silly sausage now ?

ASM has started pretty much every game under Howe when fully fit. And no need to point out he had many injuries last season, he had but it was also pretty much his worst season injury-wise in his career. You just edited that after my post ???

Oh the player trade where we were paying something in addition to giving away Bruno? Seemed a legit link. That was a stupid link there were more links than that including one to Liverpool. But you’re just ignoring the fact the players you used as an example are the first ones on the team sheet so that’s why they aren’t after them.

Started 12 games this season and was subbed on 13 games. Or are you proving everyone’s point by the fact he was only fully fit 12 games throughout the whole season?

Why aren’t they after Bruno, Isak, Joelinton or Botman then? Every team in the world knows where are not sellers, your point doesn’t make any sense. They were literally linked with Bruno at the beginning of the window and they are the first on the team sheet. Even when ASM is fully fit he isn’t the first in the team sheet so unless everyone thinks Howe is wrong then he he is our most saleable assist who isn’t a guaranteed first team player simple.

So they don’t count? It’s hilarious that he is comparing him to the absolute elite of the position and is using apps and not minutes.
If we really want to sell someone I would rather try to get 10-15m for Murphy or 20m for Almiron than 30-35m for ASM. If ASM has a good season he’s worth at least 50m, we’ll never get more for Murphy or Almiron.
Well Howe seems to rate Murphy and Almiron higher than ASM unless you think he is wrong?

Nobody is saying he's like Messi
All I've pointed out is the facts of his stats. If you want reject reality and spout things nobody is saying you crack on bud.
And if you read what I said I didn’t say people were calling him Messi I said they way people go on about him you would think he was Messi so you crack on bud.

If he is that good why is Real Madrid, Manchester City, Barcelona, even bloody Chelsea after him? I am not saying he isn’t good he is but the way some people go on here and in the fan base you would think he was bloody Messi

Comparing to similar players in 22/23
Kvaratskhelia - Apps 34 games - 12 goals/10 assists
Leao - Apps - 35 games - 15 goals/8 assists
Vinicius Jnr - Apps - 33 games - 10 goals/9 assists
Grealish - Apps - 28 games - 5 goals/7 assistsChukwueze - Apps - 37 games - 6 goals/5 assists
Harvey Barnes - Apps 34 games - 13 goals
Saint-Maximin - Apps - 25 games - 1 goal/5 assists
Comparing to others, his stats showcase he’s not a genuine goal threat for the position he plays, compared to Europe’s elite. Assists is on a par level. Least appearances of all, showcasing his injury record. In the last four seasons (152 league games), he’s missed 41.
I fully appreciate what he has done and did for the club during the Ashley era. However, the club dynamic has changed, and our FFP restrictions, means he’s our biggest saleable asset and is therefore expendable. He’s not elite, the stats prove that, and he has an awful injury record. He’s also lost half a yard of pace protecting those hamstrings, and in his attempt to press to the demands Howe requires.
Time to sell.
2 of those assists were against City the one game which he played like everyone seems to think he plays on a regular basis.
