  1. I've a seat in SJP in one of the so-called "posh" sections so am one of lucky ones I guess. I'd be in favour of a new stadium, purely so as to allow access to those who are locked out. It's a generational opportunity in more ways than one. I adore SJP but we need to get the younger generations in.

From Oliver Kay who's generally been writing acidic stuff about us since the takeover. I thought he was maybe trying to rebuild a few bridges with this one.

Is that not Oliver Holt - who has always had it in for us, pre and post takeover.

  3. The more I've thought about this, the more I think chucking a billion dollars at a new stadium is what's going to happen. It's the Saudi way. Build the best. Money is literally no object. They want to make a massive impact and this will be the way to do so. I'm a ST holder and love SJP, but I feel for those who can't get in currently. Also we are about to take on 1000s of new fans - local kids particularly. I've been going since late 70s but progress is inevitable.

I went to all the Anglo Italian Cup games. I was one of the 4,609 at SJP for the Cesena match. That's case closed.

Ah but did you go to Lucchese away ? 1-1 Quinn maybe ?

I drove there. Fucking great trip.

Memory hazy but think went to Charlton away at Upton Park on way home the following weekend (when Charlton were displaced from The valley?) Won 3-1

I can’t say this enough - we really need to try and enjoy this period rather than getting anxious about who we may or may not sign at certain positions.  We will get there in the coming years.  It will take time and it will be exciting.

We continue to carry a few duffers in the squad, football manager is not real life and it is evidently very hard to move players on who paid above their ability.

Other than that brief unsustained upturn under Pardew, this is the best it’s been for 20 years.  I’ll be looking to soak up each game and enjoy the journey the club is on.

I also have faith that the executive team, management and coaching staff know what they are doing.  They can and will make the odd mistake, it’s football and we are talking about humans here - but the trajectory is very exciting.

I still can’t believe we managed to sign Tonali from Milan and I’m confident there is more business to be done before the transfer window closes.

    Great Post. Agree 100%

Another angle to throw in… I know for a fact (from various horses mouths) that Maxi is not a popular figure in the dressing room.

I think it's telling that he has rarely (or maybe never?) contributed to those club video shorts where various members of the squad give mini-interviews on favourite moments, goals, players etc. While they are entertaining and occasionally insightful,  they also underline the team ethos.

Bought a house in Morpeth so probably just formalities. Cant help feel we've downgraded personally but if selling Maxi allows an extra quality player as well as Barnes then I guess it's something they had to do

Given's old gaff at Tranwell perchance?

How many skunkers alumni post on here? Half them must be one foot in the grave at this point.

Aye. Posting under a different tag here though. Skunkers was the nonpareil of message boards. In a time before twitter etc. It's good that some boards have survived

  9. Ah, I walked past the Leazes end yesterday and saw lots of furniture that had been removed from somewhere. Tallies with the earlier posts today. The furniture all had an early-years MFI look about it.

  10. Fair comment, though I did get a mild twitch personally. Not many Privates zip across Longsands. Guess I'm more excited as I'm now a coastie after most of my life as a townie.

He's fucking 33. What is the point? What does Southgate think he's going to discover about him at this point?

Why isn't he using matches like these to blood some of the younger players?

This is what i can't stand about Southgate - I appreciate he can point to results - but it's so predictable and fucking boring.

I really really really dislike the England football team. Always been this way. Not just a Southgate thing.
