  1. The PL don't have a title sponsor anymore, the reason for this is the clubs are compromised in the choice of sponsors, for example NatWest aren't going to sponsor a club playing in the Barclays PL City don't wear the Emirates FA Cup branding on their shirts due to the Etihad sponsorship
  2. From a City point of view this will actually make no difference A lot of City FC employees were transferred to City Football Group CFG as they were supplying services to all the clubs in the Group, for example scouting. The Group charge back services to the clubs. During FFP UEFA quivered this and were satisfied by the explanation in fact the cost of the services equated to more than the cost of the employment This story is just ill informed conjecture, get use to it, always negative. Have Newcastle's new owners actually stated they plan to follow the CFG model? The Group model was something that City Group CEO Ferran Sorianho wanted to introduce at Barcelona but the club ownership structure prevented it. CFG clubs are not feeder clubs for City there have only been a few deals with Group clubs. City have arrangements with a few clubs in Europe, just like other PL clubs, that the Academy kids got out to on loan but they are not part of the Group.
  3. So before I clicked the link Id never heard of Al Qiddiya, might be my ignorance?. Considering the fair value of sponsorship question, and the value of putting Al Qiddiya on NUFC's shirts. Assuming a £40M deal, compared to he cost of a advertising campaign on prime time Uk TV it is an absolute bargain, just being on the shirts will get them a worldwide exposure how much would that cost? The takeover have made NUFC a high profile product, even forgetting the history exposure. Etihad, how many people had heard of them before the City deal? Now its a recognizable brand across the world which makes the cost of the deal peanuts Football sponsorship is about getting the name of a brand in the forefront, its not necessarily the product, an obscure brand overnight can become at the forefront in no time.
  4. FFP was introduced to protect the Sky 4 and the European "elite" don't believe otherwise. Despite what they try to tell you its stated purpose hasnt worked look at the debt of certain clubs at record levels. Luckily for City we got in before its real effects set in and our turnover is now in the top 5 in Europe. The issue of related parties standard accountancy practice where any parties have to be declared by directors and examined by the auditors and included in company accounts, set out in international standards its hard for football authorities to argue with. Fair value is generally accessed by independent experts, City's deal with Etihad is not a related party as Sheikh Mansour is not a share holder nor does he have any managerial or executive positions It was accessed for fair value and if memory serves me right passed with out change, as it wasn't just front of shirt but included stadium and academy naming rights. This latest move by the yanks and backed by all but City is clearly aimed at yourselves and for me, the principal of right to trade legal challenge would be successful No worries there are lots of ways around bringing in deals
  5. Cheers and agree, we have the Keegan connection with his magnificent brand of football as well it was a huge disappoint that the rags slipped in and won the league that season We now have the bond of having hugely rich owners and the rest are against us, led by the yank clubs Like I say, get set for a bumpy ride, at least we had the honeymoon period when they thought Mansour would get bored when they realised City were are threat then the attacks started. Its amazing how many of the pet journalist developed a keen interest in human rights
  6. From my experience as a City fan you need to get use to it, guys it will only get worse Wait to you get success and become a real threat to the "established" lot, your achievements will be ignore at best Your majority owners will not get cold feet, they didn't when there was amble opportunity to do so and they certainly wont now, a proud people and they wont be brow beaten they are here to stay Remember we were told, wait to the Sheikh gets bored well he's now head of a global football empire with 3 of the clubs currently champions of their leagues. Enjoy the ride it will be a bumpy one but the bumps will come from external
  7. Good appointment, he deserves a chance at a club with the right ambition and the funds to achieve it The job he did at Bournemouth was remarkable, taking them through the tiers and then surviving in the PL playing football as it should be played, the final season was riddled with injuries and if he had a few more games, they may have well stayed up. Fact is, he experienced the downs and this will stand him in good stead for the coming months at Newcastle. I don't think Emery was the right fit and as one poster says above "lucky to have Eddie" Hopefully everyone will back him and especially the fans, it wont be easy and even if the relegation happens then back him again, let him build like he did at Bournemouth it would be good to see an English manager finally win something and, with the right progressive brand of football. Good luck, the PL will be a better place with a strong Newcastle United just hope you get use to finishing second to City
  8. City fan here The days of the Mansour take over were far from dysfunctional, you may be thinking of the loud mouth front man who was very soon dispatched. Mansour published a letter to fans out lining his vision for the club The t/o completed on transfer deadline day and to make a statement we signed Robinho. At the time the squad was in reasonably good shape with Hughes in place which was maintained for a good while. The management of the business was in very good hands with a structure put in place by Taskin Shinawatra, Garry Cooke was the CEO with Brain Marwood as Dof. Cooke had been slowly organizing the club and it was in every department on a sound footing. Mansour appointed "his friend" Khaldoon Al Murbarak as chairman and he is still in place KAM is an international business man, highly experienced in running multi national companies, and it is clear that he had a vision of where he wanted the club to go. In time he brought in ex Barca CEO Ferran Soriano who had a vision for what has become the City Football Group The whole organization is a million miles from when they took over, akin to a corner shop becoming Tesco IMHO I would say that your new owners have a much more difficult job, due to the years of neglect of the previous owner, they need to build a sound base of experienced people, an CEO who has run a football business with the right contacts in football I know you wont agree but they should have backed Bruce asked for some patience from the fans and get a DoF who could then find a new manager I wish the club well and look forward to competing on every front and, hopefully soon lets put the red-shirts firmly in their place
