As you say, PSR not an issue with us. I meant balancing the books in the context of not spending too much on buying players than the income balance from selling. We are not a big club and we have to be careful about our spending and overall financial management. Thankfully we have an owner that gets this and has a strategy to achieve it. JP is a very good player but I think we may need to take the profit in order to strengthen elsewhere and maintain our financial stability

Who knows what is true. Inc whether NFC are really after him? Chelsea are being touted but that may just be they want all of our players and Chelsea are our cash cow! Brazilian team mate Igor said in an interview that Pedro wants to live in London but no idea if a deal breaker or whether he will be offered the choice

Possibly but I think there will be healthy competition. Perhaps ‘get rid’ was a bit strong though. The club are happy to move him on is probably more accurate and that will be ‘subject to the right fee’. Having said that, I think his replacement(s) have already been signed so we probably need to balance the books. Part of our club’s philosophy is to allow players to move on to bigger clubs when the time is right. That is a big part of why we can attract some incredible young talent. Pedro fits this narrative but the money has to be right for Bloom, especially if he feels the player hasn’t met the club half way. Contrast that with McAllister who went to Liverpool with the club’s (and fans) blessing for a lower fee than Bloom could have obtained elsewhere. Also BDB who the club didn’t want to lose but supported his move to his boyhood club and with a below market fee.

BHA fan here again in peace. JP is def leaving us - he wants to go and club want rid. In the offices ‘No Dickeads’ is written in huge letters across a wall and unfortunately JP has crossed that line. His play acting when a defender says boo has been embarrassing (we all love it when one of our own players becomes the pantomime villain to opposing fans, but there is a limit and he goes way beyond). He also has a temper that earns unnecessary red cards. BUT he is a VERY good footballer. His goal stats are somewhat flattered by the fact that most have been pens (and he is not usually the earner of the pen) but what team doesn’t want a reliable pen taker? He is superb at pens and probably the best we’ve ever had. Goals from open play are less common (though the winning goal v Ajax in Amsterdam will never be forgotten) but his ability to create opportunities for others is undoubtable. What is he worth? Given the demand for strikers,£60M is probably fair. Though don’t be taken in by this. Tony Bloom never reveals his target fee and he always gets what he wants. Everything else is clickbait/media speculation. Should he go to NFC? I don’t know but if he does, I hope he does really well for you. But I have a suspicion he won’t be as great as some expect and so I hope he goes to Chelsea! all the best

Honestly, genuine post from me. I appreciate your last comment though. Fans of clubs like Chelsea, arsenal, United etc etc along with the likes of talk sport (who actually had a phone in topic last season titled ‘should clubs like Brighton, Fulham and Brentford be allowed to play in Europe’) constantly have a go at us because we are just ‘little old Brighton’ and should get back in our box. It becomes a habit to admit to the obvious fact that we are a smaller club with little past success before its rammed down our throats.. But Ive always said that i would happily buy a beer in my local if someone walked in wearing a walsall or Shrewsbury shirt (or Newcastle of course) because you can guarantee they wont be plastic glory hunters. I wouldn't bother even saying hello if they were wearing a chelsea or United shiirt!

You may have lost the game yesterday but you won the respect of every member of our group and I suspect every Albion fan yesterday. A superb atmosphere at the Amex yesterday created by both sets of fans from the start but your fans’ reaction to going 3-0 down was just brilliant. Chatted to loads of Geordies before and after the game and an absolute pleasure to a man. Also, no one was ‘giving it large’ at the kids in the neighbouring family stand which bizarrely is the norm from most visiting fans. Newcastle, of course, are a much bigger club than Brighton but it struck me that both are in a similar place right now with fans having no sense of entitlement or arrogance but loving the journey we are on! That really came across yesterday. Hope you smash the Champions League!

Brighton fan here in peace. This seems to be the season when fans of the so called ‘big clubs’ have noticed that we have a very good manager and some excellent players. Some of those fans became quite miffed when it turned out little old Brighton didn’t have to sell their best players simply because the likes of Villa, Spurs, Arsenal et al wanted them! How very dare we?! But as Brighton fans, we know we are extremely fortunate to have such a well run club with investment made in all the rights places by an owner who is a genuine life long fan. So if the club feel it is right to sell then it must be right. But it always grates when one of your best performing players wants to leave. Not so with BDB. We will miss him of course and you have made a great signing, but he goes with everyone’s blessing down here (for what its worth!). Of course NUFC is a far bigger club than Brighton, and you now have far more money for transfers and wages than us. But that’s not why DFB has signed for you. It is because of his love for your club and city, not for money. Every BHA fan I know thinks this and it is typical of the person you are getting – genuine, gives his all for every second he is on the pitch and is an all round decent bloke. He’s a very good defender too and surprisingly good with his feet given his height. So look after him and I hope he keeps you up!
