The chance to have two promotions on his CV at 20 years of age would be something, even if it is lower leagues. The thought of Elliot coming back until May again and replicating last year is the stuff of dreams and would do no harm to his career at all in my completely bias blue tinted opinion! To be fair he smashed league 2, got us promoted in style. In 21 games he had a goal or assist every other game. This boy is special, looking forward to see how he performs this season, convinced this lad has a career at the top level on his doorstep at 19. He has no fear, very strong on the ball. Easy from a Rovers perspective to see why Eddie Howe has opted to have him in the squad.

Yes even without blue specs on it makes sense for him to stay a little while longer and see what he makes of the step up to league one, he seems to have loved it here and has been well looked after. All will be revealed in the next couple of weeks/months. To think that the only weakness I suggested in his armoury has heading the ball, then he did this on 85 minutes to send the place into chaos and a pitch invasion that almost got the game abandoned!

Tricky to have to be impartial, and haven't watched much Championship football recently. If he goes to a Championship club then he is certainly going to get more time/space on the ball, something not afforded so much at L2 level. Playing at this level he has learned that side of his game very quickly, along with the physicality of L2 which I would say is more brutal than any of the other of the leagues. For a lad so young he is very cool headed on the ball and isn't afraid to demand the ball when he is in space, he wants to be involved all the time, and certainly let his team mates know if he doesn't receive the ball in space! Wherever he is next season this boy needs plenty of game time, it would be a travesty to see him end up at a Championship club only to spend more time on the bench. For me it's not about the level, more his surroundings and team mates, the ability to enjoy the game which he has done since January. It's easy to forget the lad is only 19, and has played around that number of games in his career so far, very early days and I just hope he plays week in week out where he can enjoy his football and develop, but not for WBA!

No chance could I make it on that quick mate at 51 years of age with 30 years of spine problems after a rugby injury. I managed to catch up with him and this is just before he may have a popped rib! He is one very level headed and talented lad for 19 years of age, fooooking cmon was his response when I got hold of him! I'm sure he will remember yesterday for a very long time, a promotion winning medal at 19 mind, most players never get one and he's been the major reason why we are now in league one.

As you say league makes no difference at all, it's a feeling that if you could bottle would make you the richest man on earth in no time! Couldn't help but think of some of our top lads/fans no longer with us, it was almost too much, had to retreat home after a few hours, sat on the beach watching Cardiff twinkle in the distance over the water, ingesting the herbs after a few ales with tears in the eyes. We may not have the might to battle the biggest clubs, and it doesn't matter, but we have a very special fanbase, outside the Welly after the game a group of Scunny fans walked into the bar to a standing ovation from a packed pub meant for home fans, so many special moments during the day. Then from nowhere my good lady appeared just like the amazing woman she is guessing which pub in North Bristol I'd be in, then appeared the school lad who in 86 asked me if I wanted to go to Eastville, haven't seen him in years, a very surreal day feeling guided by something or someone. All this happening after crushing Billy with a big bear hug on the pitch, oh and the small matter of 7 goals and probably the craziest promotion of all time. Time to pack the suitcase for a chilled out week in Ibiza tomorrow, might even watch the league two play-offs, with no stress!

Still struggling to come to terms with yesterday, all of it, on and off the pitch the scenes were something else never in 35 years watching the Gas have I witnessed THAT! A few promotions along the way but that was next level. The Geordie Maradona conga down Glos Rd, Aaron Collins (one of our strikers) papped at the top of a lamp post still in his kit. Apologies to Billy if I broke one or two of his ribs on the pitch yesterday, couldn't think of anything but grabbing him and throwing him about! I hope this is not goodbye but it seems it will be, to echo the sentiments of other Gasheads we have been incredibly fortunate to witness a very special player, and this is a club that has been blessed with many decent players who have gone on to be bigger and better in the past. From the moment I posted about EA a couple of months ago on here you Geordies have been incredibly respectful of our club and fan base, a class above so many other clubs and after visiting Newcastle last summer it isn't really a surprise, hats off you all. So chuffed that so many fans will be keeping an eye out for our progress now as we will be with Billy for the rest of his career, we will always be indebted to have been able to see him in the blue and white quarters make a remarkable contribution to our promotion, to watch a kid run straight at defenders like that has been a joy to watch. Fortunately we have the nucleus of a good squad and a manager who his dragging this club out of where it should never have been and I'm calling Championship in the next 3 seasons under Barton. Looking forward to visiting Newcastle in the summer in the quarters and hope to see the Strawberry pub open this time, and a long alliance between the two clubs for decent loan players. Today could be Billy's last appearance in the quarters. It's a strange feeling wanting it to be his last game for us as that spells a promotion party and the buses rerouted of Gloucester Rd for a big p1ss up! Come on Barrow you can get a point against that rugby side. Still thinking that Elliot will have a big say today or if we don't do it then he has 2 or 3 games to make an even bigger impression. Whatever the outcome this lad will always be well thought of at Bristols orginal and finest FC. Time to get up the M5, get the ale on board, make some noise and hopefully party time. As the Dad of a football analyst I took a leaf out of my lads book today and had a closer look at Barrows home form against the current top 7, they have lost twice at home in those 7 games. Phil Brown can become a gas legend if he can motivate his players to at least a draw on Saturday, in the same way that Dean Windass did scoring for Hull and preventing our neighbours reaching the premier league. It's all a bit weird as last time we got promoted from league two it was against Dagenham & Redbridge, a team at the bottom of the league and Accy Stanley above us choked it on the final day and we snuck in through the back door so to speak, with Stanley heavily backed to gain promotion in the previous weeks. After the 98 minutes of drama at Rochdale on Saturday not sure how much more this ticker can take, for anyone who likes a little bet on the weekend, putting a couple of quid on Billy getting the final say may be worth a punt. One thing is for sure, the moment Elliot Anderson arrived in BS7 our season went from obscurity to guaranteed play offs and possible 3rd spot, and it's been a real pleasure to witness his ability and talent in our colours. No doubting he returns to St James's a better player for this experience, he's a Gas legend for life now.

Just back from one of those games that is just a mental blur now. Absolutely crazy day out, pitch invasion, sprinklers going off, around 3000 in a state of delirium and pandemonium. Had a handful of those types of games in 35 years as a Gashead. To see Barton lofted on shoulders of fans on the pitch was a sight. Billy oh Billy, when the pressure was on and the noise could have been heard in Oldham, you beauty you delivered! Geordie boys you have a gem of a player that I'm convinced will be a very big player in the black and white stripes. Only four games left max for us to see him wear the blue and white quarters. And you wouldn't bet against him being the player to take us up with another big time goal. The heart took a good thumping there today, but don't we all just love the beautiful feeling of winning football matches.

You would think so, but as the late great Brian Clough once said, football is played on grass, not paper! I don't feel the autos coming personally, it will be tough at the Dale on Saturday, only 4 home defeats all season. We've got more than enough to win both games, I'm sure Billy will get more space than he did against the vegetarians on Saturday. A nervy few weeks await, if only we started the first half of the season as strongly, as much as your boys probably feel the same way too given your season.

Sadly no magic from Billy yesterday, he was nullified for the first time in the quarters by the league leaders who spent the afternoon diving and trolling around, and subsequently got the point they came for a got promotion to L1 yesterday.

Read an article down here yesterday with a stat that says Elliot has either scored or made an assist for a goal every other game since signing in January over the space of 18 games ( 6 goals, 3 assists). Goes without saying that if we were to get promoted there will be no sane Rovers fan who wouldn't want to see he him back in pre season. He's growing and prospering as a 19 year old in a physical/ugly league, at Rovers though we play a high press with a keeper/sweeper role. A team with a lot of energy and pace, it's a talented squad that Barton has done very well to recruit, for me Elliot plays with a freedom in a system that suits his style, and he must be first on the team sheet. I would think all of the above (promotion permitting), is a reason for Elliot to stay another season, he couldn't get in the away end quick enough when the third goal went in at Vale Park on Monday! The lad is clearly enjoying his time here, fingers crossed for promotion and further loan extension on the new Gazza!

If we were to get promoted in May, and if football justice is served and Franchise FC choke promotion/playoffs, then we will be in the same league. They have marginally bigger crowds than ourselves in a 30k all seater, its like playing and watching in a library. Elliot and his family have been well looked after by our club, and from what I have been told Ameobi and Harper are really pleased with the way the loan spell has turned out. He plays in front of a packed passionate crowd down here and is loving his time here. All if's but's and maybe's though until May! If he does end up at MK next season I would imagine he will be off to get his ears tested after the first home game. No love lost for a franchise club down here.......

Only 19, and from his first game looked like a man and not a boy on the pitch, he looks destined to be coming home with a promotion medal. If only we could have him for a little while longer, say another two seasons max!

No bottlers in this side IMO 73, Barton has instilled his own winning mentality in every one of those young guns. Get in there again Billy, cometh the hour cometh the man, UTG.

Tbf we do have several players who should not be in this league who have made big contributions to the second half of this season. Our keeper Belshaw has had more clean sheets than Andrex in the last few months! Anthony Evans is some player at this level, as is Sam Nicholson, both unplayable on thier day. Unfortunately both have a history of injury which is why they are where they are in the football pyramid. No doubting that Elliot has the potential to go much further and his all round game is above everyone else. He is the THE player who has the ability to get the big goals when they are needed to change the game, and makes it look so easy! Have to give it to Barton he has the ability not just to spot a player better than L2 level but also get them signed ?

Really disappointed with the noise levels on the terrace today and not for the first time this season. I sat in the South Stand and until Elliot scored all we could hear were Salford boys ranting. Never known the South stand full of young uns to be as noisy as it was today. Vale Park Monday afternoon, I think the wide pitch will suit us and if Barton gives Luke Thomas another run out we could bag all three points, UTG.

And right out of nowhere, sat behind that goal listening to a handful of Salford fans taunting a few of ours and that goal soon made them sit down and the rest of that end explode with joy. There's no better feeling than seeing that net bulge from another Billy bullet! Going to miss your boy when he goes home, hopefully he returns with a promotion on his CV.

Cheers, a mate of mine thinks if we get promoted we may be able to keep hold of Elliot for a season long loan in League 1, I think he's been on the mushrooms! I would be surprised if Elliot isn't playing in the Championship next season, we will be back to your natural level if we go up. Joe Barton (along with Colonel Gibson) has taken the club to a new level on and off the pitch, new training ground built, new stadium talks ongoing and a very dedicated and generous club owner. Aspirations for the Championship and the structure is building, if Elliot can get some game winning goals over the next few weeks it will be fantastic for us and his career. I'm hoping a few more loan signings come our way from St James's Park over the coming years, if JB stays, and Newcastle away in the FA Cup or a pre season friendly would be a cracking no lose weekend away!
