I disagree, by extending the Gallowgate they'll have three stands the same, the Lease's and Milburn at present are i believe two tiers higher than the East stand, If the east stand was raised by one tier they could then join all the roofs together giving it a cohesive almost seamless look and a lot less lopsided Regarding the East stand being ancient, I note Liverpool have expanded three of there stands two recently and pretty sure the main dated back to the 60s or even 50s so don't believe its a insurmountable refurbishment problem

As an outsider I don’t understand people who want to move from St James Park, at the moment it’s a little bit lopsided but this could be rectified by extending round the Gallowgate so it’s the same as the Milburn and Leazes and then adding one smaller single tier to the east stand joining the roofs. I believe there’s enough room behind the east stand for one single tier only problem being the right to light issue for the listed buildings behind, but if bought by PIF I think there already owned by a Saudi company the right to light issue would no longer be a problem . Capacity 65000- 70000 ? The buildings behind could then be used for various purposes by the club, offices accommodation, bar’s maybe a club museum The cost, I’m sure it will be less than 1 billion, I’ll be surprised if it was more than 500 million but a lot less than the 2 billion plus being quoted for a new stadium !

Nice image but Looking at this in my minds eye I'm sure the East stand could be extended to another tier halfway between where it is now and the Leazes and John Hall wrapping around to the extended Galowgate, its a conversation that's being had for sure, I know there's also the issue with the right to light but as the Leazes Terrace is owned by a Saudi investment fund and without trying to be to conspiratorial its bound to have some if not very close links with the Pif so there could be some form of compliant movement The Gallowgate can be extended to match the John Hall and Leazes, leaving a potential capacity of 65 -70000 which I believe would be the sweet spot whilst staying at a more complete St James park keeping the Heritage History and Tradition , bottom line if the money and the will is there by all involved including the authorities anything is possible
