  1. Atletico has confirmed they’re out
  2. It’ll all collapse quickly again. Perez will still be wanging on about. I don’t think it’s coincidence that Real went 32 years without winning the European Cup, before winning it the first season that runners-up got in. Then they stitched up La Liga with their bedfellows, Barcelona. Before pissing and whining about unfair distribution of money in the CL, which then changed. Then it was FFP, and they got that. Then it was that they didn’t want to risk not qualifying, and they got that. Then it was they wanted more guaranteed games, and they got that. You know, European football somehow survived for over three decades of Real Madrid not winning Europe’s big pot. Fuck knows why so many want to bend over to let them fuck football one more time.
  3. Spain mainly. Juve eventually admitted defeat.
  4. Just seen that Barcelona and Real are still gagging for it. Fiorentino Perez is a right weapon. I love that he never seems to get that everyone else can see this is just those two clubs trying to do what they’ve already done to La Liga - and that we should all be happy and supportive of that. Why shouldn’t Real get all of the money for everything?
  5. Yep - which is one of the factors which ultimately scared off the six English clubs. They gambled on the PL’s arse dropping - when it didn’t because of public outcry, they all collectively backed off (apparently Chelsea and Man City weren’t arsed in the first place). The offer was based upon getting more money than UEFA competitions - it didn’t replace UEFA + PL money. Same still applies.
  6. If it meant breaking away from English football (which it would), you’d still be ok?
  7. So they’ve went to the European Court for anti-competitive practices to enact anti-competitive practices?
  8. Unclear, but no doubt if it were possible then several English clubs would already be in the top tier. The PL will boot anyone out who joins anyway, so the whole thing is moot. UEFA won’t abolish their competitions, and the FA holds the gift of UEFA qualifications. So a Super League, if it existed, would likely exist parallel to UEFA Comps, with none of those in the Super League in UEFA comps and potentially not in their domestic leagues. Ive never heard of a more obvious non-starter.
  9. US sports have salary caps, and other weird stuff like worst performing clubs getting first choice in drafts etc The home of red-in-tooth-and-claw is oddly egalitarian with this, but also operates closed-shop franchise models.
  10. Yep, that’s how they described it on the radio. Effectively one team relegated from the top division per season to the next tier - the Reals and Barcas of the world making the assumption it won’t be them
  11. Then they won’t be able to play in it. The Spanish FA made it clear to the two Spanish clubs. The PL will expel any club that leaves to join - even without legislation. The clubs have a legal right to leave, but that swings both ways - they don’t have a legal right to stay if they do
  12. No, it’s still pretty much a closed shop. It’s not a revamp as it wouldn’t be a UEFA competition.
  13. Yep, though I don’t doubt that the legions of weird cunts around the globe who ‘support’ them will be rejoicing on Twitter right now. The ones who treat a football club as a penis extension, which they picked because it had Messi or C Ronaldo playing
  14. The Super League was a closed shop which excluded all of those clubs. It’s not just the domestic leagues that are the issue - the greed of the same clubs who wanted this super league pish are the ones who wrecked European competition as it existed. And you think that they’ve suddenly decided to share everything? Give over.
  15. Have any clubs come out yet saying they’re joining? Haven’t seen owt, but I’m not on Twitter etc
  16. He comes across as someone who tortured animals and insects when he was a kid
  17. A closed shop of rich clubs playing each other forever? Sounds great that.
  18. Aye, that’s what is being forgotten. There was never a ‘legal’ issue - the clubs don’t have a legal right to play in both via the ruling. They can piss off and play in a different competition if they want; UEFA etc don’t need to have them registered with them. That also applies to the PL & FA
  19. Just on 5Live explaining it. Sounds like pretty much another closed shop. Utter shite
