  1. He got injured and then just vanished. Rodgers has a habit of vanishing people, did the same with Praet who also played ok before an injury. He was hit and miss but definitely had talent, can take a while for players to settle in a new league sometimes.
  2. Iverson is very highly regarded and was player of the season on loan at Preston and has won it elsewhere whilst on loan. More likely we give him a shot. We have more pressing concerns at right wing. Kasper was on the slide and we conceded an obscene amount of set pieces off the back of it.
  3. We had a model of everyone was basically employed by the club, and were club men rather than the managers men. Then we let them go and replaced them with Rodgers people. I don’t think it works as when the manager goes (and they will), you end up replacing half your scouts, back room and fitness team etc.
  4. There are plenty of assets we can sell outside those if we needed to. What is most likely to happen unless massive bids come in, is that we loan about 6 players out near the end of the window and bring in a winger. And that’s that, unless an offer for Soyuncu or Tielemans comes in.
  5. Yes, we aren’t a big club. But we sell to them and we know what they pay for a certain quality of player.
  6. I which case it’s unlikely to get us or other clubs taking the bait. We are paying for being ambitious and trying to back him. Loads of players out of contract next summer so it’s a short term issue. People forget we also have a billionaire owner not afraid to put money in. See the training ground and ground expansion. They aren’t suddenly going to stop being ambitious. Just perhaps learn to stick to what got us here and not let a manger dictate too much.
  7. 100%, we’d accept a decent bid on Tielemans. The issue is convincing him, I think he’s got his heart set on one of your traditional European elite. Even if that means waiting a year and maybe not even being a guaranteed starter.
  8. And yet here you are thinking £40m is going to buy you Maddison and Barnes.
  9. Ha… no, it really isn’t. If you want to be a big club and take a Premier league clubs best players, you pay like a big club.
  10. Jack, he’s the best player of a team who were regularly finishing 5th and won the FA Cup. His numbers match up or better players who are quoted at far greater figures than £60m. If he had another year on his contract you’d be getting quoted about £80m. As far as we are concerned we’ve lost Maguire for £85m, Mahrez for £65m (years ago), Chilwell for £55m. Any offer has to fall inline with what we are used to getting, otherwise the answer will be no. If you want proven, (especially English) players from premier league clubs. You have to pay, and pay handsomely.
  11. So do I, but I think it’s getting to the point we have to start considering allowing set buy out fees in contracts again (we refused them since losing Kante).
  12. Or Maddison’s agent who will want to just maximise his cut, which means big money with you or a new contract here.
  13. It’s said we have an option of another year. I’m not convinced but a few journos reported it.
  14. The finances are being massively overplayed. I mean it’s like someone at Newcastle has read an article and decides we are close to collapse bidding £35m+ extras. It’s laughable. We needed money to buy players and we have a bloated squad. We already have several players likely to go on loan that will lighten the squad (Praet, Choudhury, Soumare or Mendy). We also have a lot of other assets we could well if we REALLY needed to. Such as Castagne, Tielemans, Iheanacho, Fofana all far less crucial than Maddison and Barnes. It’s all just going to happen late in the window and people are (like Newcastle) going to attempt to low ball us thinking we need to take any old offer.
  15. Put a bid in for Tielemans and you can have him for £35m. Although it will take a bundle of cash to convince him.
  16. We got £85m for Maguire, we’ve had interest from Man U, Spurs, Arsenal and the numbers banded about were in excess of £70m. It will honestly take something north of £60m to even get us thinking about it. He’s just too valuable to how we play.
  17. Villa paid £25m for Danny Ings with one year left. And Maddison is another level, he should be in the England squad. I think the club would be happy to take that risk unless a £60m+ bid appears this summer.
  18. It would take a bid north of £60m to get us at the table.
  19. Put it this way, we’d rather sell him for £30m next summer than accept £40m this summer. With his numbers, his age and being English we’d get that in a heart beat. Every position is worth about £3m. So him bumping us 4 places makes us an extra £12m. Just not worth it for that cash. Not like we don’t have other assets. We’re more likely to sell Fofana for £75m+ to Chelsea if we get desperate.
  20. Correction, we’ve played him on the wing. Whether he’s any good there is rather debatable, few Leicester fans ever want him out there as he’s not a winger.
  21. The article does not say he’s interested. A NE reporter said it was “thought” he was keen.
  22. The issue is a bloated squad and wages. Next summer we have loads of dross out of contract and it frees up huge amounts of cash. It’s a short term issue.
