  1. Yes. Because he's been playing out of position for a good chunk of his United career. I hope this is all moot, as I trust McTominay more than I do most United players. And you can get your wish of not signing a player who scored a brace against Spain. And I'm out. If you want me back, turn the Bat Signal on. In closing. If Eddie Howe wants to buy McTominay (or anyone), then you should trust him, to the hilt. What the man has achieved with Newcastle, in a relatively short space of time, Is nothing short of extraordinary. Also, I've watched Scott McTominay over 250 times. My opinion deserves credence. The end.
  2. I've watched him over 250 times for United and Scotland. And in most of those games, he's played as a number 6. Yeah... he's not a number 6.
  3. Who don't rate McTominay? Oh. Right. Manchester United fans who don't rate anyone who isn't Keane or Scholes. Yes. ten Hag has done OK. But his transfer dealings have been a bit of a shambles. Who's arguing childishly?
  4. No. I watched McTominay a few times at youth level. He was good. And you'd know this, because?
  5. No. I'm disregarding people's opinions who are disrespecting a manager who had just brought European Cup football to Newcastle. If Eddie Howe buys him (and it's a big if) then you have to respect his decision.
  6. As opposed to a Burnley loanee, Weghorst? McTominay spent a big chunk of his youth career playing as a striker.
  7. It's true. It's amazing how many UEFA qualified coaches are on football posting boards.
  8. In fairness, the Manchester United fans are the biggest self-loathing fans in the world. On redcafe, they have a performance threads for all of the squad members. It's just threads of United fans bitching and whingeing. If you look deeply enough, you'll find Manchester United fans wanting to sell Rashford. It wasn't that long ago that the Manchester United were comparing McTominay to Keane. They're a fickle bunch. As a Scotland and Manchester United fan, I want McTominay to stay at Manchester United and either play as a number 10 or even as a number 9. In midfield, he would be best utilised as a marauding box-to-box number 8.
  9. At the moment, the only people who want McTominay to leave Manchester United is the Manchester United fans. There's been nothing to suggest that ten Hag wants him to leave. It's a nuanced one. Football fans don't always know what's best. Manchester United fans wanted Pogba back. They got their wish. Then it was a case of "be careful what you wish for". They then wanted Jadon Sancho. Once again, a case of "being careful what you wish for", as he's been underwhelming and they now, unanimously, want him to leave. Even ten Hag is facing questions about his judgment. Buying Antony for £80m is bizarre and Casemiro is going to cause him more problems than offer him solutions. Scott McTominay is definitely an EPL quality player. His problem is that for pretty much all of his 200 matches for Manchester United, he's been playing in a double-pivot. That doesn't suit him. His main attributes are driving forward with the ball and shooting. He should be playing closer to the opposition box than his own. But yes, we'll see in pre-season what becomes of McTominay. Another evidence that fans don't always know what's best: Norwich fans gave Billy Gilmour pelters. They thought he wasn't good enough for them. Now he's won over one of the best managers in the world (De Zerbi) and has now firmly established himself as a first team player. And the Brighton fans adore him.
  10. Is that supposed to be me? If so, what "lies" are you referring to? I only disappeared because I'm busy. But yeah, of course he is EPL class. He's played over 200 times for Manchester United.
  11. I'm Paul Scholes If you want to judge him over one match, then fair enough. But every outfield Manchester United player was trash yesterday. Newcastle were awesome. No other words to describe it. I've been honest another Scott McTominay. Maybe you should read what I've said. Never have I mentioned that he's the incarnation of Scholes or Keane. In truth, he's one of the most frustrating players I've ever seen playing for United (and Scotland). I've seen him go toe-to-toe with Verratti and Busquets... but I've also seen him look lost against the likes of Bournemouth. Motivated, he's dynamic, but it's how to motivate him, that's the question. SAF could probably turn him into a Patrick Vieira clone.
  12. Nah. However, i did leave a little post in the match thread. It was a proper mauling. We were just lucky that it was only 2 and not 5 or 6. Fair play. Newcastle were far, far the better team. Congratulations.
  13. Just briefly signed in to say congratulations. Newcaste were superb and thoroughly deserved the three points. We were lucky it was only 2-0 as it could easily have been 4 or 5. Manchester United were awful, but that would mostly down to the Newcastle players wanting it more. Congratulations.
  14. Hey, I'm dropping knowledge. Whether you wish to take it or not, as a collective, is entirely up to you. It's what football does to people, same with the net, it gives them Cyber Uefa coaching badges. Anyway. I'm out. Hopefully people here think they know McTominay a little bit more, as I've given an honest and accurate appraisal. For the record, I hope EtH doesn't sell him. Bye all. Best of luck... but not on Sunday.
  15. Is it a premium price, though? When you think of the money spent on Pepe, Sancho, Grealish, it's close to £300m Yeah. He knows nothing about football. He's won zero. This is why not a club in the world will pluck a fan from obscurity to pick and choose and buy players. Generally, they think they know more than people who have been in football their entire lives and have coaching badges.
