not sure about we bought players to late,more wrong players,and i ask the question of the manager we have,look at Sven in City,he was buying players even later,but are doing well

He spent over 40 million at City.  We didn't.

Considering all the upheavals at boardroom level I thought our transfer activity was exceptional under the circumstances. While I don't agree with some of the starting line ups we've seen, I thought Allardyce attacked the transfer window with focus and determination. Best summer's work I've seen in a long time.

Usually, the reason for buying late in the transfer window is that either ;-

 

The Club don't want to start paying wages etc until last poss minute;

The player is hanging on to see if he can get a better deal elsewhere.

 

It seems very short-sighted as both parties would benefit from more time spent with team-mates during pre-season training, but as with everything, money comes first....
