foreigners

When we didnt qualify for Euro 2008, alot of peole were looking at the reasons that the team failed and went on about the grass root schemes and the youth, i remember one bloke saying that english youth were lazy and not disciplined. He said there was a definite attitude difference between the foreign lads and the english lads.

He said the foreingers were always more determined to suceed and improve there selves where as the english lads were happy to do there training and leave.

16m for Bent sums up things to be honest, i stil cant get over that. i dont believe in this "bad foreigners being a problem" surely ppl arent suggesting that the quality is there but they'd rather go for the cheaper crapper version?

I for one would hate to see the quality of the EPL suffer because of the introduction of a home grown player quota.

Is it mainly because England as a nation can't face our own deficiencies and instead, being a largely xenophobic people, look to the unfamiliar among us to blame for our own problems? It's crap. We harp on about having the best league on Earth and then complain about the prime reason why it is such a good league. If English players were good enough, they'd get in the team, end of. Foreigners make our game better and we love to complain about them while worshipping the likes of Martins, Beye, Emre etc. To be fair we're one of the teams with quite a few Englishmen (Irish isn't too far away either). Just more rubbish being pedalled by The Sun because being English is obviously the best thing in the world and we can do no wrong.

Double edged sword, you want the best league in the world and everything that comes with it you're going to have the best players from across the world and everything that comes with that.

If we kick the foreigners out and have to build up a leagues worth of great English players (at least temporarily having a pretty mediocre national league) who's to say homegrown talent isn't going to do what the Brazillians do now and bugger off to Spain or somewhere, where the big money, the worlds best players and the best teams in Europe are?

at the same time if clubs were limited in how many they could have they may not go for the mediocre foreigners but keep there allocation for the special.

Clubs sign "mediocre foreigners" because the equivalent English players cost twice as much.  As things stand clubs have a choice not to pay the inflated prices, but if the rules were changed so each club had to buy English players can you imagine just how inflated the prices would be.  They would be insane.

id disagreewith that to be honest, its a league with the biggest clubs and a faster pace, spznish football maybe techincallybetter but there are far too many inconsistent teams in there bar the top 2 or 3. id much rather watch the best that the PL offers over th best la liga does.
