James
http://news.bbc.co.uk/newsbeat/hi/newsbeat/newsid_7820000/7820412.stm He's currently running an academy in Spain for Brits who have been released by the likes of Liverpool, in an attempt to find the next Stuart Pearce and Ian Wright. Might raise the question of whether clubs ditch players too early and are missing out on late comers. Is it a good idea, or a wasted exercise that will just lead to fresh dissappointment for the youngsters?
Guest Heneage
Hmm its a nice idea, and he could find some gems, but when you imagine those two are the only real examples of late bloomers. The problem is, it can make the players have a false sense of security, that they are good enough when a lot just aren't.
thenige
If you look at the website the place they are looks bloody plush. Worst thing they can get from it is some false expectation and some good memories. Fair play to them I say.

Pilko
Hoddle and youngsters? Wasn't it him who played a centre-half up front during a criplling injury crisis and didn't even include any young lads on the bench, deciding to stick 2 keepers and a half-injured striker on there instead? Guest firetotheworks
Wasn't Sir Les a late bloomer as well? There's got to be more than just Pearce and Wright surely?
Guest Howaythetoon
Hoddle is a fantastic coach and a very good thinker, should get himself into international management again where his mind and methods work best as he's a poor day-to-day man manager. As to whether this is a good thing for those who've dropped (been dropped) out of academies, any extra coaching and further development experience can only be a good thing.
