Well ok just over, last night for their FA cup game. Is it just me, or is that just absolutely pathetic! 10,000 for fucks sake. I know we have had cup attendances of 20-25000 at times but this just shook me. Absolute crap fans!

We got about 25,000 for Barnsley last year didn't we? And the media scoff at that, but nothings said of this, its typical.

What do we care who anyone else's attendance is.

Blackburn's a small town and they have to compete for fans with a bunch of other Premiership clubs. Hardly their fault they're located where they are.

You are kidding right? 10,000? There are divison 4 (sorry league 2) teams with higher attendances.

I just find the practice of looking down on other clubs based on attendance figures to be entirely pointless.

Attendance is based on a whole bunch of factors the club has no influence over like geography/population. They're a club in a city of barely 100,000 people located right next to a giant glory-hunter magnet in Man United. 20,000 average and lows of around 10,000 is normal. Heck, they're probably punching above their weight.

Bollocks, had we got 20,000 for a cup game it would be all over the back of the Sun. 10,000 is shite for a team that won the premiership.

Yes, because Newcastle is the only club in a city of 300,000, and is also the biggest club in its region.

I really don't get why you find this so hard to understand.

Blackburn are always going to struggle to get good attendances like Oldtype said. They are situated about 30 miles from Manchester and 40 from Liverpool, probably the two best supported teams in the country, then they have to compete with Burnley,Preston,Bolton, Wigan and a few other smaller clubs, in a very small catchment area, plus it's a working class area as well. We are very fortunate to be able to attract fans from a wide area of places in the north east where their isn't the option of other local teams other than Sunderland.

To be fair toonlass I see what oldtype is saying, there are 100,000 people in Blackburn compared with nearly 1 million people on Tyneside.

Blackburn are shite, Sunderland are shite, so really its not THAT bad an attendance.

Lets put it this way. Sunderland have a lesser population but can manage at time 4 times as many in their stadium. 10,000 is really just crap!

It really is to be honest Oldtype. Even their shit league form is no excuse, as we got lambasted for having 44k at a league game.

Newcastle has a population of 189,863. Blackburn has a population of 105,085. If we only had a 20,000 attendance at the match (which is a bigger ratio of population) then we would be lambasted. Its bollocks and you know it!

It's a low attendance but I don't see why we have to be offended about it. That's just what they are as a club and it's largely due to factors beyond their control.

I suppose it all just sounds a bit daft to someone coming from a country where the most popular club averages in the mid-twenty thousands.

How many would we be getting if Man United played in Sunderland and Liverpool and Everton played in Middlesborough?

I wouldn't say offended. But it does seem funny how much stick we got for having double and triple that.

Who cares. We are not counting Manchester or Liverpool in their population. There are plenty of Man U, Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal fans in Newcastle!

Newcastle has a far wider catchment area than Blackburn. Their really is no comparison between the  two clubs on drawing attendances. We are much bigger news than Blackburn that's why we would get stick for it and it would also sell papers as we fall from one crisis into the next. No one cares if Blackburn get 10k.
