You’re being a silly billy now.  Barton has been playing the old ‘can’t say nuffink anymore, I’m being oppressed because I’m a straight white bloke’ shite for some time now - which is what a fuckton of privileged fuckers say when they spout racist and / or sexist shite.

 

It isn’t of course that white people can’t be oppressed - the vast majority of them are (the vast majority of them are working class).  It is that Barton cannot possibly be in that number, given his privileged status in life (wealth, platform, fame).  And the one thing that working class white folks are not normally oppressed by is their skin tone - it is because of their class.

Under that assumption, Gbandit is absolutely correct. If Barton by saying "our" was talking about something else entirely, I'm sure Gbandit would be the first to say he misinterpreted it.

 

I can also understand why it can annoy someone from the same demographic, as i am, that it daily sounds like we are the whipping boys (excuse the pun) because of what we hear every day in the media.

 

It can be frustrating when as a fella, it feels like men are tarred with the same brush as someone like Barton, "It's terrible the way men treat women", for example. It's not men, it's scumbags, who happen to be men.

 

So yes @Pancrate1892, I understand your frustration but people like Barton are the problem for our demographic because it automatically gives certain sections of the media a stick to beat us with. However, if we are honest, we'd rather have the minor problem of being tarred with a certain brush than let's say being at threat of being beaten or racially abused daily. You win some, you lose some.

Nice answer! Very eloquent. My apologies for late reply as I didn't want to discuss a negative subject during the weekend when we should be celebrating. 

 

I get the point, I just don't agree with it (sorry) Not that I'm upset or trying to save the majority of the white race/ or any from something hurtful (I'm actually a pinky hue), I just don't think it's necessary, and like I said before it's a divisive term that (I feel) doesn't really help anyone or anything despite some people's comfort with it. 

Since the term has been used I don't think there has been a dramatic improvement in the way we treat others. It didn't exactly cover that Chelsea lass forward in glory when her behaviour was puke. (Again just my opinion). 

 

But....as I understand.....we are talking about Barton! and his friends and not the majority of white race, and NOT Jimmy the tramp who's just been spat on by Michelle Obama (sorry MO I needed an example) for being a privileged piece of shit.

so could we not just label Barton racist instead of white? Like that 'our' shite he said, could they not just be referred to as racists? I mean if you had to tick a box and they were the only options on the form? I can't see many folk having beef with that. Not even famous dictator who expired in WW2 gets the white man treatment? Why is that? Is it just because of new and exciting narratives? 

 

I'm of course not referring to you - but lads/lasses I never said anyone is racist or suggested such a thing, I entered into a debate with my opinion. 

And I didn't call gbandit a dick, I said don't be one, because that's how I replied to the sarcasm when we are having a worthwhile and serious discussion? 

 

I've got to say as well, a lot of people on here spend far too much time talking about politics than Newcastle united, European elections, trump, uk politics, Starmer, Vance gannin to fuckin Greenland, I mean howay lads, who gives a fuck? Can we not just be nice to people and enjoy ourselves? 

It's meant to be about football, which clearly it's not so probably tells me im in the wrong thing. I need a beer.
