NUFC transfer rumours in the press

Tiote nowhere near good enough to be playing in a CL final.  Sorry guys.

Of course he is. Worse players have done that along the years.

Not sure what argument this is?  But, if I'm a team who are looking to compete with Barcelona and Real Madrid this year I would be looking at much better options than Tiote.

Yep. Lassana Diarra for one.

Still mystifies me how he's never really settled anywhere. He's probably one of the best DM's in the game atm

There's a massive difference between their being better options and him not being good enough.  Its not as if the Champions League final has two teams each with the best 11 players on the planet.

£8m, highly unlikely. Can see we'd pay more than what Jose went for

Then how come no manager so far has entrusted him to do it on a regular basis?

How come Tiote isn't one of the big clubs etc? It doesn't work like that. Like Tiote, he's limited. But he's the best naturally defensive midfielder in Europe.

As it'll be elsewhere too...Enquiry about Wayne Bridge over the weekend. Seven figure loan fee likely to scupper deal. More tomorrow! #NUFC

Pretty disheartening if we've even asked tbh.

That's understating it. It would be a monumental let-down from an already shambolic start to the season (squad wise)

He's on £80k at City, surely we're not gonna offer anywhere near that. It'll be Cissokho or Pieters, most likely the Dutchman. Before Deadline Day at least. :troll:

http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/transfer-news/Manchester-City-Wayne-Bridge-is-plan-B-for-Newcastle-if-fail-land-left-back-Erik-Pieters-PSV-Eindhoven-article786184.html

Wayne Bridge is Plan B for Newcastle if their bid to sign PSV Eindhoven left-back Erik Pieters falters.

The Geordies want to replace Jose Enrique before the derby clash with Sunderland on Saturday

Pieters is ready to accept a £1.5million-a-year deal, but the clubs have yet to agree a fee.

With PSV demanding £6m, Newcastle are casting around for battled-hardened Premier League alternatives and have spoken to Manchester City about out-of-favour Bridge.

The England international, who was loaned out to West Ham last season, doesn’t fit with the Magpies' policy of signing youngsters, but Pardew also needs proven performers in a squad that's short of a specialist left-back.
