Sky Sports to non Sky customers.

Recommended Posts

Just seen an advert for Soccer Saturday saying it's now going to be exclusive to Sky Sports News - ie no longer simulcast on Sky Sports 1. With the channel being removed from Freeview (and therefore Top Up TV) it's another shit thing about the service available in the OP.

Wonder if it affects BT Vision too.

Thats clearly the plan - Sky only wanting to give up SS1 &2, hence removing SSN from Freeview.

If they still simulcast Soccer Saturday with SS1, then BT Vision customers could still have watched it.

As the BT Vision deal was based almost primarily on making the Premiership more available, I would guess that Sky will move as much other footy/sport programming onto SS3 & 4 as they can - wouldn't be surprised if they started showing some stuff on SSN too when it becomes part of the Premium sport pack!

Top Up TV (freeview) will have SS1 & 2 from 2nd August. Cost for both plus ESPN £39.99 per month no contract but you need a card and box or cam

how much  :yikes:

It is a fair price for someone who only wants to watch a certain event like the Ryder Cup, US Open, rugby union playoff/grand final & few other sports that are only for a few days/weeks. If your a football fan & want to watch a season of football then you would be a fucking idiot to get it via Top Up TV.

You can also get Sky Sports on its own, with no other mixes from Sky now too....

Just want Sky Sports?

Sky TV customers can take Sky Sports without any Entertainment Packs.

Starting from £29.

To order, call 0844 822 2035

I would assume the £29 will be for a single Sports channel though, and who knows what it might be for all 4 + SS News.

Did you even read the page you linked? £29 + you get ESPN.

    * Sky Sports 1, Sky Sports 2, Sky Sports 3

    * Sky Sports 4, 24/7 Sky Sports News

    * ESPN, ESPN America - 3 months at no extra cost

£29 extra a month

With any basic Sky TV package

If you dont want ESPN

The key bit in the above

Rather belatedly, the network has been identified as a key asset by BSkyB, which at the start of the football season is preparing for a bruising commercial battle with Virgin Media, BT and Top Up TV. Rival broadcasters have been granted rights by the media regulator Ofcom to offer the Sky Sports 1 and Sky Sports 2 channels at a knockdown price. As part of Sky's response, SSN – once given away for nothing on Freeview as little more than a marketing tool – is being put behind a paywall, in line with a broader strategy of charging for content across Rupert Murdoch's global media empire.

Which we have saw with The Times online.

Yes I did read the page on the link thanks... did you?

if you scroll down below the big 'Free Sky+HD Box' banner, there is a section called 'Just wnat Sky Sports'.

All of the prices you quote are the prices on top of taking an intial viewing mix (at min. £18) as I've highlighted in bold.

The option of Sky Sport only without any other mixes start at £29.

Cheers!
