Any self respecting Englishman hates the Ozzies just as the Scotsman hate the English and well just about everyone.

Rest assured, the feeling is mutual! I'm an Aussie of Scots-Irish descent - that's three cast-iron reasons to despise Poms

Wow you've got it bad; you are like some weird nationality experiment. You should be put down for the good of the world.  O0

That's just typical Americans, bunch of wankers. Half of em call themselves Irish. Been to Ireland? Who me? No, of course not.

Mind you, some idiot (English as it happens) asked me a few weeks back if i'd prefer it if Brazil won the WC and you were there to see it or England win it and you had to view it on TV, I wanted to anihilate him.

In fairness though, most of the population of America has come from elsewhere, and still live in a culture brought from where ever by the family members that went to America looking for 'Freedom'.

In my eyes, America has yet to forge a real culture and way of thinking of its own other than the Republican, American dream, I like shooting etc. which is really an English purist/selfish/rebel against socialism way of thinking.

To say its ridiculous for 'American's' to support other country's is stupid mindless nationalistic talk. You say its outrageous to support any country other than your own, I say its outrageous to support something just because you happened to be born where ever you happened to be born, especially as a vast population of America only decided to go there for what they thought was a better life, it wasn't really a desire to join 'their culture'.

Eg. So if a 3rd Generation Mexican immigrant, born in America but Grandparents born in Mexico, they've held onto their old culture within their family and friends and community, why shouldn't they support Mexico?

You make a fair point, but in the specific situation I was referring to involved a 1st Generation Brazilian, which I certainly thought was acceptable. Then a kid with Polish origins I believe, who claimed to support Brazil because Ronaldinho was his favorite player as a kid. That's also odd, as he was 16 when Ronaldinho became a star. Then everyone else who came into the conversation seemed to think you can support any country you want.
