Doug
Surely it is easier to ask a skillfull player to put his foot in and adapt to defensive duties, than to ask a dour defensive type of player to display skill and flair. Proof was seen today. Nobby at full back gives us another dimension on the right flank. Carr should not have started a game for us once it became obvious he was a shadow of the swashbuckling attacking full back he was for Spurs prior to his serious injury. This is such a simple truth. Hod carriers out! Artists in! We need to do the same on the left, Duff, Emre or Charles for poor Ramage struggling in a role he is not cut out for. Charles, Milner, Nobby, Emre, Dyer, Duff, should be the first names on the team sheet when fit every week. We need players who can keep possesion and go past people to win games. Defenders with flair who are comfortable in possesion, a prerequisite for successful football teams. Glenn Roeder of all people should know this as he was one of the best of this type around in his playing days.
Dr. Nguyen Van Falk
Emre at left back = Penalties galore! We need to start bringing the ball out of defence more. Taylor is the one who should be doing that.
