The College Dropout

ANy big spending spree will have a number of duds. Always best to add 2-3 rather than 5-6.

They did pretty well with the Carrick & Berbatov money mostly. Modric & Bale was the tipping point.

How do Porto & Benfica deal with player sales? They just go right back into their S. American network and did up another batch?

Liverpool are the worst for it. £180m brought in for Torres, Suarez & Sterling. All the Torres money wasted but saved by Suarez. Proceed to waste most of that but saved by Sterling money. Doin't look to have signed anyone that could go on to be worth £40m+ yet.

Village Idiot

I think most of Spurs signing made sense on paper; Lamela was a rising star in Italy, Soldado was banging them for fun... Eriksen has done well, I believe.

It is easy to say in retrospect, but Soldado just seems the exact archetype of a big-money striker that flops in England. The team doesn't play to his strengths, he has no outstanding physical attributes that obviously contribute to the team and finds himself being replaced within in the year. It seems to happen every season.

I am very surprised by how underwhelming Lamela has been though. I thought he was on his way to being a top-level star along with Ljajic and Pjanic.

Eriksen has been alright, and has really been the only one to stick.

It's incredible they have nothing else to show for that money.

Even we had the likes of Cabaye, Ba, Remy, Ben Arfa, Debuchy come and go, and all of those would still get into their team!

I understand that Soldado is also a very lazy at training and doesn't keep himself at shape unless there is someone shouting and keeping him in line

Could do challenge for the top 4 year in year out as first team players?

Eriksen has been more than alright imo. For someone that reaches for the top shelf with his adjectives so often, that's an odd description from Kaka.

Taylor Swift

Liverpool have a few players who could fetch big money in a year or two. Moreno is exciting as hell, Benteke will shine. Sturridge is their best player and he wouldn't look out of place at a team like Madrid if he could stay fit. Coutinho will do very well this season as well since he's got actual strikers to pass to. Liverpool have a very strong team now and they'll challenge for the CL.

Coutinho is mostly crap when I see him. That bit of magic aside he's not a consistent menace.

Moreno? Looked a liability last season.

Sturridge is 25. Nee chance Madrid will be interested for big money in a couple years.

Sturridge benefited massively from Luis Suarez. A very good player who was made to look world class thanks to him IMO.

Except his goal return is even better without him, this wouldn't even be mentioned if he could stay fit but alas.

Didn't look much cop when he played last season and nowt special at Chelsea. Thrived playing in Liverpool's attacking system with Sterling and of course Suarez. I think he's a very good player, but he's not world class.

He never played up front for Chelsea, when ever he's played through the middle he's score goals simple as.

Also he played 12 times last year and i doubt many of them were starts either, his goal return without Suarez was like a goal a game  also who said he was World class? Liverpool fans don't count.

Sturridge's current estimation is a classic case of a player being thought less of due to time on the sidelines. If you took fitness out of it I'd take him over any other striker in the league, he's outstanding.

I'd have both Aguero and Costa way ahead of him tbf. I like Sturridge a lot, but he's not in the same class as those two.
