Mbappe is in the same position as Kane was 2 years ago. It's more of a "is he really this good? Is this his level?" Obviously Mbappe is younger and has done it on a bigger stage.

If he's the real deal as it seems and he'll just get stronger and faster - he's worth 100m in this climate.

Yeah but they are reportedly asking 160m

I don't see how you don't go for Coutinho and Dybala rather than M'Bappé. Even if they'd cost you a bit above what Neymar returned those two would improve you, unlike M'Bappé who would be a step down for now and with the potential of being an improvement if he reaches his absolute ceiling.

Seems like Neymar's agent has in a way confirmed that Neymar will be paying the release clause himself meaning Santos won't get anything as it's not considered a sale. They'll be missing out on near £10m because of this. So I'd guess Barcelona will be happy with this arrangement as well? Santos are truly getting fucked here once again.

La Liga refusing payment of the buyout clause. As odious as this transfer is, pick your dummy up man, they've been doing this for years with banks paying for transfers etc.

It's the risk you take for clubs who can afford it, if he has another season like last year nobody will care.

Don't see how they can refuse something on a contract.

They can't. The long game here is to revise the release clause system entirely. It's pretty significant that La Liga is refusing payment for one, even if they will get overruled by UEFA.

Hope someone correct me.  What I understand is:

Neymar - free to leave as he has paid the compensation, just pending UEFA formal approval for the registration to PSG

La Liga - refuse to receive the payment "due to FFP ruling on 31 Aug".  The money is holding up here.

Barcelona - receive nothing because the money is locked in La Liga and they will only receive it at 31 Aug, aka transfer deadline, the earliest, if no further action from La Liga and UEFA.

It seems to me that Li Liga is tricking Barcelona instead of helping them?

They would be as well to let Barcelona have their money so they can reshape their squad. The bloke clearly has his heart set on playing in the Mickey Mouse league for stupid money so let him get on with it.

That West Ham line on Sky Sports' ticker is hilarious.

'Sky sources: West Ham nearly signed Neymar in 2010. West Ham bid £25m but Santos wanted more.'

So he didn't nearly sign then.

I don't think getting the actual money now or Aug 31 will have any material effect on the transfers we can or cannot make.

I'd expect this to be resolved soon, anyway. La Liga is being difficult because they aren't happy at all at how UEFA ruled on the Javi Martínez case - which made it far easier for foreign clubs to trigger release clauses - and will stir up trouble at any occasion on this issue.

It is a pretty massive knock on the leagues star power.  He's probably the biggest name and best player on the planet under 30.

You start to look at the ages of Barca's remaining best players.  Yikes.  When you consider the team isn't functioning properly anyway.  Messi and Suarez though.

So how many goals is he going to score for PSG next season? 50+?

Nah, doubt it. Think Cavani is still going to be the main goalscorer for them. If they can win all the domestic trophies and get at least to the semi's it will not have been a failure.
