They're thinking of the worldwide market. What would the average American want to watch, Man City vs Burnley or Man City vs Real Madrid?

Again, I'm not for it but I've probably watched 10 Premier League games this season, most of which involved Newcastle yet I watch most CL knockout games

This American would rather watch Man City and Burnley.  I think they are misreading their markets.  Their breakaway league will be unsustainable.  A parallel in American sport is the supposed p5 breakaway from the NCAA.  Just like this its a short sighted money grab.

Let JP Morgan underwrite it.  I'll laugh when the US gov't refuses to bail them out when it fails.

I think the PL (and other national leagues) need to release a statement to fans (legacy), right now, if they're going to go down the route of pretending to care about us. At least acknowledge the situation.

Fucking legacy man [emoji38] it's so outrageous it's funny.

C Milan ffs  their last 7 season finishes are 6th, 5th, 6th, 6th, 7th, 10th, 8th. Arsenal are a shell of their former self, Tottenham are still really a mid-table team. This is no super league.

Exactly why they've jumped for it. Super Egos for Super League.

 The champions league barely makes it on to TV over here. Other than the final. The rights have bounced around because no one watches. Perhaps that supports their desire for change idk. But either way, 2pm Wednesday isn’t exactly prime time.

Is it right that it's on Paramount+ for about 6 dollars a month?

I've not watched Champions League since it went to BT like. I rarely watched it when it was on Sky. Paying for football is like buying an Ubisoft game.

Hearing as part of their message to fans Liverpool are going to erect a statue of Lady Thatcher to mark their move into the ESL as she shares their values way more than Ken from Bootle ever will. NJFT96.

I don’t blame the owners of these clubs or the clubs themselves, I blame our game, the FA, UEFA, EPL, FIFA and all those who have sold the game out to billionaires, media companies and other big business and et al and all to do what these clubs are wanting to do even more of, to cash in on the game. Why shouldn’t a business valued at over 1 billion like say Tottenham, not want a guaranteed pot above those who are not valued the same, or a guaranteed market share etc. It’s natural for any business and that’s sadly what football and sport is today. Our governments and councils and even fans have enabled all of this too.

Me let hem have their cake, but not to eat it. Kick them all out and for good, ban their players from representing their country and restart the whole system again and this time give fans 51% ownership of their clubs or forever lose the game.

I’ll be done with NUFC and footy if they leave and still get to play in domestic competitions and their players represent England etc. at international tournaments.

This is a great opportunity to restart.

Spineless turd.

Normally I'd agree with that but, unlike Bruce, the managers here didn't 'sign up for this'. They weren't walking into their respective clubs expecting to be caught in the middle of one of the biggest existential challenges the game has seen this generation. So to some extent I think it would be unfair to expect the likes of him and Solksjaer to pin their colours to any particular mast, when it's all completely out of their control.

Too early to judge??  Fuck off, man!  Had hoped him and Klopp would be amongst the first to come out against it.

If it is just a power play he and others will simply sit and wait before making too much noise. No-one is quitting just to find out in a few days the super league doesn't happen, big clubs UCL and National League demands are met and they continue on as if nothing happened.

Yeah. Paramount+ is a rebrand of CBS All Access, that no-one ever subscribed to. IDK for sure if all games are on the platform. In addition to that, one game will likely be on a free mexican channel each week, so you can still watch for free if you're happy to listen to spanish commentary. So not really a big money maker there.

It went to CBS like half way through the season last year, because TBS/Bleacher Report just sacked it off. No idea why, just one week they decided it wasn't worth the bother. They also barely showed any games on an actual TV channel, just through their BRLive platform.
