As things stand - no sales or signings. Do you expect to finish above Leicester?

I don't expect it no, we're a bit of a wildcard so it's hard to say how we'll do, it could go either way.

What's his goal record from open play? I know he takes a lot of free kicks and we've got a couple players already good enough, so what is his open play record like?

Most of the goals I've seen have been open play

I wonder if they do flog both.

I very much doubt it. Selling Fofana would be more than enough.

They won’t have to tbh. Wesley makes more sense to sell and Chelsea are a big enough step up that he’ll force the move if he really wants to.

if we aren’t willing to stretch it a little for Maddison then when are we? He immediately transforms our attacking play. It doesn’t really play in to most peoples opinion that if we have a chance of a player of quality we’ll go for it and more like what has been said time and again that there is a strict budget

I know this is just Craig Hopes view but we seem to priced out of every move

To take one of another club's best players you either pay close to what they want or you'll end up with fuck all. Especially for one of a PL club's best players.

If they sell Fofana now its prolly to late either way.

Maddison is easily worth 50 million in todays market, if we really are struggling for budget we should have probably not spent money on a new keeper.

Offering clauses for European qualification (if that’s what they are) with one of your would-be rivals for that particular league position seems slightly cheeky tbf  .

They are only flogging one if we arent prepared to go over 45. Chelsea as we know are paying the going rate and more so.

If 50m is deemed unrealistic by the club (Newcastle) then this whole thing has been a waste of time.

I wouldn't say a waste of time. If you think a deal can be done at £50m, but don't want to go quite so high its always worth entering into negotiations to see if there is a middle ground to be found. Especially with Leicester. Lots of potentially interesting quirks to a deal. Their need for a GK, which we have spare. The supposed £8m left of the Perez payments.

Absolutely no one any note has said this. It’s likely it’s made up twitter bullshit.

Is it unthinkable that we are having a 'prudent' window in order to demonstrate clearly that we aren't to be seen as a cash cow to any selling club? Would that not fit the mould of building slowly that has been mentioned more than once? And should we not accept that, safe in the knowledge that our hierarchy do clearly have the club's long term interests at heart?

Yeah I've only seen those nonces Sean Casey/Looney Toon report that. Almost certainly untrue.

I'm pretty sure them owing £8m on Perez came from that Casey clown on twitter. I haven't seen anyone reputable report it although happy to be corrected.

If Leicester's asking price is £60m as widely reported. You would assume £50m plus add ons would be the bare minimum they'd take.

Also, they are traditionally tough sellers. They made Mahrez wait 6 months and got top dollar for him, Maguire and Drinkwater.
