We’re light in midfield. We need to add to it instead of selling one of our best players in hope that someone could replace him with the same impact. If you ever see him as a guest on any of the many podcasts he goes on, that's how it tends to work. He gets asked if he's heard anything or what his feeling is on transfers about specific players. Sounds like we were very close to landing him for circa £25m before Watford pulled the plug and we turned our attentions to Isak. Since then he’s looked very good but has picked up several injuries and is currently laid off for at least another month. But ASM doesnt need replacing within our current sqaud. Fraser does, Murphy does, Wood does because those players are 3rd/4th choice in their respective positions. Aye - he might become expendable if that happens - but it hasn't happened. Even then, that player replaces one of Willock, Longstaff or Joelinton. ASM would still be one of the first 2 attacking moves off the bench or dropped in because of injury. That's not an expendable player imo.
