Gerrard has missed the chance to be a true great by staying at Anfield.

What about McManaman? He had a similar kind of status when he was at Liverpool, was probably their best player along with Fowler, and was widely regarded as one of the top midfielders in the Premiership, if not Europe. He moved to Real at the peak of his career and became Britain's most successful ever export - 2 CL medals, a couple of league titles, and god knows how many other cups - and he was an important member of that team for the most part. A dismal spell at Man City shouldn't take the gloss of what was a wonderful career...but how many people would describe him as a true great or legend?

Absolute disgrace in an England shirt.

No right foot whatsoever is one of the main things that held him back. Very good player mind.

There are far too many Liverpool threads on here for my liking, but Gerrard's a really good 'un. He's carried Liverpool on many occasions. Aside from that CL campaign, that last ditch piledriver against W Ham in the Cup Final was particularly memorable. Cometh the hour, cometh the man etc., etc.,....

I'd like to see him do a bit more for England, but that whole setup is run by goons.

I was talking about Giggs. Clicked on the quote below by mistake. Nothing to see here.

Given the posts you quoted, not really. The thread was about Gerrard originally though
