Just seen Dortmund's goal...
What a replica!
-
but the few times he did get away it was like watching a penguin making a mad dash for the sea before the stunned lion wakes up and catches him (yeah, my natural world knowledge sucks).
Again that's more of a post 97 description, a Blackburn Shearer would make it to the sea.
One of the reasons I enjoyed seeing Shearer play was because he didn't have all the silky flair yet still came up with the numbers. Interesting you bring up Batigol, I always felt they were pretty much made from a very similar mould.
In those 3 full seasons Bellamy was at Newcastle, Shearer averaged 20 goals that weren't pens. Harsh to say it was just "here and there".

Sammy: Sho! It's for you. It's the president!
Shola: Hello?
Obama: Fuck you. You're shit.

Will be a great PR exercise if (hopefully when) a new owner comes in.
Within the first week, rip all the SD shit off and put up lettering identical to the one of old.

What's the quickest someone has got to 10 league goals?
-
Hope Rooney gets it just because I like him the most.
But Man City have many players I enjoy seeing score too.

M4, Neesy's quote in your sig - just reliving it and it gets funnier the more I look at it.
I've almost taken it off several times... but then I really read it again, and it just has to stay

The home page especially looks amazing. Congratulations guys, and thanks for all the work put in.

Does seem rather unlikely. Would like to see him get close.
Failing that hopefully he climbs to the top of the England scoring charts... With Owen jealously watching.
And crying.

Shearer had 2 seasons off with injury as well.
And another 23 league goals scribbled off for being pre-Prem.

Sunderland 0 -2 Chelsea
Torres (20), Terry (53)
Very nice.
Quoting to jinx

I'd also say that Shearer, great player though he was, unlike Rooney never had much pace.
That he never had pace is something of an annoying myth. Along the same lines as "Shola always gives his all".

^ Well that's one way if seeing it. Wonder what Dresden and Ronaldo would say about this.
-
Hopefully Chelsea will fuck their sisters in the cunt.

That Shearer goal away from Inter from Bellamy's cross is exactly what I'm talking about. The effort Shearer puts in to make sure he gets in front of Zanetti to get the ball, it shows how determined he was to score at all costs. Rooney just doesn't do that as a goalscorer.
Even in his later years that would happen. He was much slower and up against often younger more athletic defenders but he seemed to react quicker.
-
Hard to compare juxtaposed but if someone asked me who I wanted in my XI, an at peak Rooney or an at peak Shearer, Shearer would win every day of the week.
At his peak Shearer wasn't even playing the game he was just laughing at mere mortals & don't forget Rooney has played in better teams practically all his career and is yet to do it for England...
Rooney is IMO playing against far better defences week in, week out than Shearer did though. [/nottakinganythingaway]
That's not true at all tbh.
What?

Was thinking about Rooney's goal scoring after the Bulgaria game.
1 more goal and Rooney breaks the top ten Premier League goal scorers. Wonder if he can go all the way to the top.

Sewelly speaks far too much footballing sense almost all the time... It's suspicious.
