That’s so smart movement by White. Blocks Vicario and moves onside before the header. Arsenal’s set penises are so good.

Wild take maybe, but I think Schär is at his worst when it's too easy for him. My gut is saying that he plays like he knows he can play at a lower level and win comfortably, but it's maybe a level tgat just below what's needed.
Definitely got those vibes today and he was poor against Blackburn in the FA Cup too. Gets a bit cocky against lower level opponents.

Absolutely erect at that beef between Salah and Klopp.
Wow, that's beautiful. Had no idea it happened.

If Joelinton does that and the goal is disallowed, everyone would be crying about it saying Joelinton gets punished for being stronger.
-
I don't think it's a foul as he uses his body, especially for VAR to intervene. Would be different if he shoves him with his hands but that's just winning a duel with strength against one of the strongest players in the league.

Fuck off Villa

Huge save by Olsen.

Wilson is still so good, only behind Nunez, KDB, Haaland and Salah in non-penalty xG+xA per 90 on his small sample size this season. Third last season behind Haaland and Nunez.
It will be a tough decision, taking the £10-15m due to his fitness and age or keeping him behind Isak limiting his minutes and maybe sign a developmental striker/forward as third choice. Think he would still break down but replacing him isn't easy. Someone would absolutely buy him for fee that low as he guarantees goals whenever fit.

The Mudryk thing is weird. Arsenal definitely wanted him, before Chelsea came along and waved their 80m and they decided to pay 27m for Trossard instead. I've often thought there's...something there? He just seems to be in completely the wrong setup, wrong club, no confidence. Or maybe he's just shiiiiite and Chelsea got rinsed
Think he'll come good once he gets going and gets some confidence. He just doesn't look like the same player who was terrorizing any defense in CL while in Shakhtar.

Prognosticate
What if,
Southgate steps down as England manager after the Euros as predicted, England go after Wor Eddie, impossible for him to turn the job down, Newcastle approach Klopp.
Does this make people uneasy, or would you just roll with it.
Would never happen. Southgate will be gone but Eddie is way too young for the slow national team job and I don't see Klopp managing anyone but Liverpool in England.

I guess it depends how long he wants to wait to try and win a trophy. Declan Rice left after West Ham won a trophy to try and win more trophies. Harry Kane left Spurs to try and win more trophies. Both were loved by their fans
Football careers are short and we have to match his ambitions
It's not a last chance saloon for him compared to Kane, he'll only turn 27 in November. Rice was simply too good for West Ham who are way below us despite being so close in the table. I don't see him going this summer but if we fail to qualify for CL the following season it's probably time due to his ambitions and we could still get a massive fee.
Can see him being a player that will be really effective well into his 30s as well as pace isn't his main attribute to put it nicely.

Howe and Emery have done equally excellent jobs. Granted gerelly speaking Howe started from a lower base.
Way lower base, that Villa squad was really good even under Gerrard.

To be fair, I don't think anyone could have predicted how well he would have done considering his record at Sociedad. Does show that our scouts are capable of looking beyond stats and seeing attributes that will work for us. Yes it looked like we overpaid initially but has shown to be more than justified.
IF he goes, I do have a glimmer of hope we could find someone capable of filling the gap one way or another
He only really had one down season, scored +15 in the previous season iirc. Kaka said they had changed their system for that last season that didn’t suit Isak personally but his xG+xA per 90 were still pretty good even then. -

OK so let's suppose he goes to a CL club for a 20% rise next season. What happens when we that club then drops out the CL? Does he move again? Only ever-presents in the CL seem to be Man City, everyone else is in and out like the Hokey Kokey.
Think his base salary would 2-3x in any case if he ever moves from his current contract. I honestly think we have to give him a payrise soon to equal level with Bruno.

Surely those two sentences contradict each other
Yeah, meant blame individually. Collective attitude problem from the players. And there's no way Eddie and the others didn't try to prevent it pre-match.

I think the first half was all a mental problem today fwiw and you can't really blame anyone for it. Team that has 16 points and who we beat 8-0 away surprised us with their impressive intensity and we couldn't really answer until the regroup at HT. I'm sure the mantra from the coaching staff before the match was that there are no easy games at this level but players still thought it would be easy.

it was close to season worst. What did you expect really?
Eddie to not get the sack after 13 minutes?

Everything that was written was totally justified.
No, I don't think signing up Amorim after 13 minutes was justified. Nor telling Burn to fuck off due to him being a slow fucking oaf after 8 minutes etc.
So fucking toxic, no point following the match thread at all.

Are you on glue, or do you just ignore our chances? They had two good chances, we had two good chances. Draw fair result.
Another pen against us and another one denied. they'll still call corruption though.
Congrats on the point!

Vicario was blocked by White, had no chance to challenge for it.
