  1. Sacking managers all the time does no good. I've seen worse managers than Roeder do acceptably well, albeit on a lower level (it's not like the premiership is filled with managerial genius anyway), through long term stability. There's absolutely no point in sacking him if we can't get someone a lot better.

  2. What's to say Carroll himself isn't on here? I bet a fair few players read these boards from time to time.

Must be why they have so little confidence these days. Duff is probably an internet addict, then.

  3. Parker was a pure DM under Souness. We lacked movement all over the midfield and up front. The only role with any chance of success in that mess was Parker's. We're far better off with Roeder than with Souness, and that's a fact. We're still crap, though.

  4. I don't think the players will or should disagree with the factual content of Redknapp's statements. Their problem is to not let it affect their confidence. Roeder or no Roeder, they should still be able to string together a few passes and create a goal scoring opportunity.

  5. Brann.

Apart from them, I agree with this:

SPAIN: Barcelona. Yeah, they play good football, but I also like the way the club is run, and I wish so much we were run in a similar way. Also, during the Franco regime, Barcelona became the focal point of Catalan defiance. Catalonia had been a bastian of Republican forces and support in the Spanish Civil War and held out right until the end. Following the war, Republicans and their sympathisers were brutally suppressed, particularly the Catalans and the Basques whose distinctive cultures and languages were seen as Anti-Spain by the Francoists. Their customs, identities and languages were banned. Therefore, FC Barcelona became the means by which they could display their identity, vent their anger.

  6. Maybe he wants to rest Solano or Milner while giving Carr some sorely needed match fitness. No, that would be totally sane, so it must be something else.

  7. It'll be interesting to see Roeder's lack of excuse this time. "Having virtually no injuries is no excuse for the performance, but our playing style has been adapted to having a left footed left back with two right feet and a midget target man and two defensive midfielders and an underperforming £6M left  winger, so it was obvious that this would be a very difficult game for us..." I have no idea how to make that thought reach its conclusion.

  8. Looking at the possession stats only is a bit simplistic. We don't defend well against teams that sit back and counter-attack quickly. Neither against teams that put a lot of pressure on our midfield, or teams that play good passing, possession football. Or teams that just kick and run and hope to fluke a goal from a mistake in our midfield or defence. Or teams that are a lot worse than us and make our players over-confident and lazy. So possession doesn't tell the full story. The full story is that we're shit.

  9. Honestly what is wrong with the forum the last few days, the horror of the Filan thing, T27 wanting us to sell pretty much the whole first team squad and replace them with 3 players leaving kids who have played less games than Dyer had over the last 18 months between them and now this!

    :idiot2:

Just a wild guess, but: Lead in the brown ale?

  10. But Babayaro is almost always injured, and usually shit. I think Ramage did quite well in the beginning, even though he obviously doesn't have much talent. He's a slightly worse replacement for Aaron Hughes, a player we've missed. Babayaro? He's too injury prone to be a backup.

  11. Duff hasn't been that bad. We had huge expectations to him, so he's been disappointing; kind of like the opposite of Sibierski. I think he'll be much better now that Martins has started to find his place in the team.
